False, the lie is your own. He didn't make the trip that all those other leaders made because he failed to plan for rain. Every President but this one somehow manages to hire staff who can think about contingencies in all travel. Such as the weather, in France, in November on the 100th anniversary of so massive a thing that dozens of world leaders promised to be there and were there. Happened with Republicans and Democrats both in past administrations, just good planning on the most basic of concerns. It isn't even a partisan failing, it is just a Trump failing.

 

Maybe his logistical team screwed up, sure.

But he made the right call in the end.

He isn't in charge of organizing these details and he was probably extremely pissed.

Listen. RWers at PF spend hours uploading and diagnosing slow motion videos of HIllary's left eye twitching to diagnose everything from brain cancer to satanic posession. I think you'll find that that really is a game played almost exclusively by the right. I, with no admittedly NO expertise whatsoever, find it really surprising that as you describe it, a "world-class helicopter pilot" piloting a helicopter with the most sophisticated equipment we have can not fly in overcast weather, with drizzle, and no wind. Being that that describes the weather in the northern part of france in November to a T (it rains on average 15 days in the month of November) you would think that the Trump crew would have planned for that. OR there is the possibility that the orders went the other way around (ie a call to the logisitcs team to ask them to claim bad weather conditions). I will beleive the former, but would not be surprised by the latter.
Either way; Hucakbee Sanders' explination this morning for the reasons there was no car planned is a farcical lie:

does the first sentence even remotely sound like Trump (since there were over a hundred dignitaries visiting paris on saturday, our lives were already fully disrupted)? And the second is just a provable lie. My GPS will get me from the US embassy in Paris to the cemetary in 1h19 minutes and that is during rush hour with no car cavalcade.

I suppose that it is possible that the helicopter flight was cancelled at short notice due to the weather. If this is the case then the lack of a "plan B" would be typical of the shambolic Trump administration. Had this been an election rally in front of tens of thousands then I suspect that President Trump would have found a way to be there.

 

He should have made sure he got there on time. No helicopter? Leave earlier.

A real leader would have said, "This is important. I'm going to be there. Make it happen."

But instead we have Trump, who said, "I feel some bone spurs coming on. Bring me another six cheeseburgers."
