    Not many consider threats negotiating.
And that is all he talks about. Most of it before the election was hyper campaign talks. Scare tactics to his base.
They haven't passed a budget because they don't negotiate to get the votes needed.

Looks like congress passed many budgets on time. But for very recently.
At least in part. I misread the chart.

Trump is not getting his wall, maybe a potion of it if he give dems something they want

holding America hostage is not the art of the deal I hope

maybe Trump can trade Medicare for all for his wall - dems would go for that - how bad does Trump want that wall?

Seems Democrats are for a border 'fence' however. That would make it more fair for those trying to cross the border illegally, giving them a better chance at success.

we think in some areas there needs to be walls, in others fences, we do not need a great wall of china going across our southern border

that is not how deal making works, if Trump wants to deal --- "Medicare for All" for his wall sounds like a good deal

how badly does the right want that wall

does the right want the wall more then they want to deny people healthcare

But there is no agreement to walls or fences, nor was a great wall of China mentioned. The fact is that a wall would save lives, and even a sufficient fence might do the same. But fences or walls should not be decided on political grounds but on their effectiveness.

    I don’t think it was a threat.

Sure it is. He will eventually cave. It may shut down, but not forever. And next year won't be any easier for him to threaten and keep it.

What 'negotiations' should be required in order to improve national security and save lives? That should be the straightforward objective by both parties.

We can improve national security and save lives. In fact we do that already.

Obviously the Govt won’t be shut down forever. Hopefully it’s not at all and the Dems actually do what they once supported and stop by politics with the safety of our borders

    Our borders are very safe.
    Hopefully, Rs will negotiate.

Congress, with bipartisanship, approve border security spending already. $1.6B

Apparently not. A young child just died, and is being used by leftists as a martyr, because people were persuaded they could enter. Many members of the caravans are also getting in.

Because we're letting them in to see if they qualify for asylum. But yes, if we let them in, we need to provide for them.

Trump did negotiate and offered double the number of DACA's Democrats requested but they still said no. There is chaos at the southern borders.

Yes, and they certainly know they''ll be provided for. That's what's costing taxpayers millions of dollars. Once they're in asylum doesn't matter anymore.

Didn't he want $25B last year for that exchange?

Provide, I meant while their case is being determined.
After they receive legal status, then they do as most others do. Find work.

How long did it take you to acquire your masters in mental contortion?

And its quite obvious you don't know the difference between a statement and a question. No worries. I get how dismissive you need to be.

Yes, he did. and had that been approved much of the problems we see today would not have been happening. And of course the problems will persist until something substantial is done however there doesn't seem to be any movement by the Democrats, oor any possible solutions being suggested.

Not sure how long it will take before that $25 billion is eaten away by extra manpower, the costs of arriving illegals, and the possible loss of lives, but earlier would definitely have been better.

Noo oe can force illegals too work and once they're in it's difficult to get them out, even after committing serious crimes.

And unemployed illegals cost taxpayers over $1,6 billion per year which, along with other costs, would go a long way in paying for a wall. https://cis.org/North/Lets-Stop-Paying-Illegal-Aliens-Stay-US-Unemployment-Insurance

But the vast majority want to work, they want to make their lives better. Just like our ancestors did.
