US President Donald Trump has warned Chicago he will “send in the feds” if city officials fail to bring the crime rate under control. The city has so far had more shootings and homicides in 2017 than at the same time last year, according to reports.

In a tweet on Tuesday, Trump stated that if Chicago doesn’t fix the growing crime problem, which he slammed as “horrible carnage,” he will resort to federal intervention to quell the violence.

Less than two weeks ago, the US Justice Department published a damning report on the Chicago Police, accusing them of regularly using force which was “unjustified, disproportionate and otherwise excessive.”

“Chicago Police Department (CPD) engages in a pattern or practice of using force, including deadly force, in violation of the Fourth Amendment of the Constitution,” the DOJ said in the report. The report stated that Chicago Police have unfairly targeted minorities and used “unreasonable force” on predominantly black and Latino neighborhoods, causing a breakdown in police-community trust.​

Trump can fix the situation quite ready by keeping Feds out of Chicago, specifically the DEA and ending the Prohibition of drugs.

Articles have revealed a 28% decrease in Chicago arrests in 2016, and simply hiring more officers is unlikely to yeild better results.

 

Dispite the dramatic rise in violence, Chicagos arrests dropped by nearly a third. Federal officers with clear objectives can succeed where local police have failed. Emanuels proposal to establish Chicago as a sanctuary city demonstrates his complete incompetence in administrating Chicagos police force.

 

Federal officers have no jurisdiction over non-federal crimes.

 

I don't think there were that many civilians killed in Aleppo even by the terrorists... nor civilians killed in Donetsk and Lugansk by the Ukrainian army.

As for fixing the crime, well Guliani did it in NYC without legalizing drugs. The city has been safe from the time he was mayor.

When Trump was elected I thought he might do something along these lines. I was thinking send in the national guard to patrol the worst hoods but I'm really not sure what he can or will do. Time will tell I guess
