how great a slight did the flak jacket wearing jan 6 instigator commit that trump would drop him like a hot rock? brooks "stopped talking about the 2020 election?" so what?

Former President Donald Trump in a statement: “I am hereby withdrawing my Endorsement of Mo Brooks for the Senate.”

Explained Trump: “When I endorsed Mo Brooks, he took a 44-point lead and was unstoppable. He then hired a new campaign staff who ‘brilliantly’ convinced him to ‘stop talking about the 2020 Election. Very sad but, since he decided to go in another direction, so have I.”

Trump Un-Endorses ‘Woke’ Mo Brooks (politicalwire.com)

it is worth noting that brooks won in 2020 and probably noticed that he should stop claiming that election was rigged before someone noticed.

I'm starting to think he won't move on until he gets a memorial. Maybe a statue of him grappling with some faceless suited figures over a ballot box or something.

It seems that according to Trump anyone who doesn't promote his "stolen elections" conspiracy is "woke".

That's great news. The more he keeps whining, the more people he will alienate and Pence and the adults in the room can move forward.

I realize that you are just parroting the headline, but how does "wokeness" come into play here?

It’s a trigger. The idea is to claim Brooks here is “woke” and being “woke” is bad. Same with calling someone a “liberal” or “evil communist” or whatever.

So the intent is to call him something that he clearly is not and is in fact the polar opposite? That does not make any sense.

Nor would it make sense to call a Conservative a "liberal" or an "evil Communist". I do not think that your explanation is why the author chose that word.

Because the goal is to associate him not with the ideas of “liberalism or communism or wokeism” but the feeling attached to those ideas.

But wokeism is specifically about social and racial justice. It is not as if it means the opposite of Conservatism. It has a very specific meaning which clearly has not one thing to do with this particular topic.

That’s the point. Brooks isn’t woke but Trump wants people to think Brooks is woke. Because he’s a liar.

the idea is to demonstrate the mighy power of the trump endorsement. if brooks can drop a little in the polls trump can impose his conditions on all repubs.

That does not make any sense. The author clearly misuses a word, then all of a sudden YOU decide that Trump wants people to think he is the word that the author just misused. You have no basis whatsoever in stating that Trump wants people to think that Brooks is woke, other than the nonsensical misuse of that word by the author.

Trump provides plenty of avenues to attack him based on what he actually says, there is no reason to start fabricating what you claim that he thinks.

The handwriting has been on the wall for a while.

Mo Brooks Puts Out Ad Bashing McConnell As Trump Mulls Yanking Endorsement

Senate candidate Rep. Mo Brooks’ (R-AL) coveted Trump endorsement is on the rocks – and he knows it.

On Sunday, Brooks put out a new campaign ad directly targeting Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), aka the “broken old crow” who ex-President Donald Trump has attacked repeatedly while reportedly plotting his ouster.

Embarrassing considering the degree to which Mo has bent over for Don.

This is another example of Trump turning against people who really supported him. There must be more to this with Mo Brooks though because Trump endorsed that dimbulb Tuberville over Brooks for the Alabama senate race. It's ironic that Trump goes after people who actually support his policies in exchange for people (like Tuberville) who are too dumb to know what his policies are.

No policy matters more to him than his braindead conspiracy theory does. That's what's required to kiss his ring and get his endorsement. Nothing else matters.

Unless the memorial has "By the way, he really won in 2020" chiseled into the base, he'll call the sculptor part of the Deep State.

Trump in his statement accused Mo Brooks of going "woke" because he told people to move past the 2020 election. Trump introduced the "woke" to the conversation, not the media, which now implies that Trump considers anybody who does not subscribe to his election fraud fantasy as being "woke".

I think the fact that Brooks was trailing big time in the polls was the biggest factor

Policies? Trump doesn't care about no stinkin' policies! This is about fidelity to the Big Lie.

Hours after former President Trump announced on Wednesday that he is done with Brooks, the GOP congressman responded to the latest blow to his limping campaign with a fresh statement. In it, he claimed that he has “not changed” his loyalty to the Big Lie — it’s just that he and Trump are at odds about how to keep the Big Lie alive and well.

In a statement issued through his Save America PAC on Wednesday morning, Trump accused Brooks of making a “horrible mistake” when he apparently “went woke” by daring to utter it was time to move on from the 2020 presidential election.

    Fair enough.

His use of the word "woke" was clearly incorrect.

Kind of funny considering the term initially referred to a realization of sociopolitical "truth". From that perspective I guess one could say the term is applicable to realizing that Joe Biden is the legitimate president. I'm sure that is not how it was intended though.

I would agree, but I think he used it to evoke a response from his supporters more so than to be accurate.

Brooks had a +44lead in Alabama.

    Now he's lost that entirely.

Trump will select a new candidate to endorse who will win.

    Thus to RINOs.
