Here's the hot-button jargon that Trump has intentionally infused your mind with. "alien" "storms". You see, those are the two words that Trump wants you to connect to the caravan of asylum seekers. Those two words, when connected, create fear and anxiety. These immigrants are not going to "storm" any border crossing, they'll present themselves at the border like every single asylum seeker has done multiple times a year for the past 10 years.

Pleasantries aside, I am not a Trump fanatic, though I often find myself defending him just as I defended Obama against the ridiculous fringe ideas of the right. Being in power is harder than it looks from the bottom.

I agree illegal alien is less pleasant language for someone on the left to hear, but alien is the term used in the US code. I couldn't care less what terminology Trump uses. I thought he called them rapists and some of them good people anyhoo, not exactly the language of the Supreme Court is it? But illegal alien is.

Personally I think any application for asylum should be denied if the individual in question hasn't taken the shortest route to the safest country nearby to apply for refugee status.

For the US that means everyone except Mexicans, Cubans and Canadians. For Australians that means anyone except New Zealanders, Indonesians, and Papua New Guineans.

Economic or crime related causes should not be considered valid, only war and political repression.

It's almost as if the average leftist is some sort of hypocrite or utterly unaware of what Obama was really up to during those eight years. But then again they skipped vetting him and just settled for blindly worshiping him instead.

 

The government of Honduras is corrupt and the citizens of Honduras are not being adequately protected from gangs and the crimes they bring such as extortion, rape, intimidation, kidnapping and torture. According to U.S.immigration laws, amnesty should be granted to migrants whose government is either unable or unwilling to protect them.

 

The law should be changed. Living in a shitty country isn't a reason to be granted asylum. How exactly are these places going to get better if we scrape the best and brightest of the society off through immigration?

I think more broadly that the whole doctrine of Responsibility to Protect (R2P) is flawed and should be reconsidered. Non-intervention ought to be the main consideration.

Compromise always requires both sides to give something up. A restrained military in exchange for abandoning the neoliberal international order seems like a pretty fair trade to me. Peace has traditionally been a golden goose of the left.

Europe is currently leading the world. We'll see from them how the experiment of bomb and import works.

That doesn't change the fact that you buy into the fear-mongering being promoted here. They are no threat to us, and our huge military reaction makes us look like clowns, led by the Clown-in-Chief.

The threat to this country is from the inside, the domestic enemies of the US Constitution that comprise our government. Congress has already defecated on the Fourth Amendment and effectively nullified Habeas Corpus. You're welcome Mac.

Democ …. Progressives could end this by simply stating a more moderate stance. But right now, they are fighting tooth and nail for what most Americans see as "open borders".

But then they will bemoan anything that actually creates a real border and actually holds people coming responsible in any means necessary. In a time where even the EU is being super anti-immigrant as a whole, this is not going to go well for Progressives and their supporters.

While they claim to not want open borders, every action and any word they say seems to state otherwise.

I still have not seen any Progressive tell me what a real immigration stance should be, they just keep saying it is mean or whatever other emotionally driven response.

And yes, I have seen the CNN or whatever pictures where the whole front line is women and children. But if you look behind it, there literally isn't a single woman or child to be seen.

This is almost entirely men and we the people see that.
