I used to live across the street from the US Embassy in Libya.. Ghaddafi was a bad actor and his time was up. The US would have been content if things had stayed as they were. Also, remember that Ghaddfai called himself the Emperor of Africa. He was nuts. Libya was prosperous BEFORE Ghaddafi because of King Idris who had lots of experience in governance. He pushed education, healthcare and the social safety nets that you credit Gaddafi with .. He also gave Libya a remarkable constitution which Gaddafi immediately threw out just before he destroyed Libya's oil business.

There were no guarantees that Libya would survive the Arab Spring, but there was an outside hope that whoever gained control of Libya would reinstitute the Libyan constitution. Short of putting a massive occupation force in Libya indefinitely there was no way to keep Gaddafi in power.

But it raises the question of how that man defines sin. Trump is accused of a lot of things like getting up in the morning, breathing, traitorous stuff like that and he's guilty.

True enough. Well as to your question, I don't think Turkey belongs in NATO because it's turned into an authoritarian Islamist country, and we have very little foreign policy agreement with them. You've already stated your preference for our allies-of-the-moment the Kurds over our treaty bound allies the Turks. Our relationship with Turkey is a relic of the Cold War. I would think at some point we would come to terms with that and act accordingly.
