Turkey warns it can 'freeze' Sweden, Finland's NATO process

    Whoops, as I have said time and time again to the NATO fanboys, it ain't a done deal until Turkey says it's a done deal.

    "ANKARA, Turkey -- Turkey can still “freeze” Sweden and Finland’s membership in NATO unless the two countries take steps that meet Ankara’s security demands, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Monday.

    Last month, Turkey lifted its objection to Sweden and Finland joining the alliance but warned that it would block the process if they fail to extradite suspects with links to outlawed Kurdish groups or the network of an exiled cleric accused of orchestrating a failed coup in 2016.

    The Nordic countries’ accession still needs to be approved by the parliaments of all 30 NATO members and Turkey’s parliament could refuse to ratify the deal.

    “I would like to remind once again that if these countries do not take the necessary steps to fulfill our conditions, we will freeze the (accession) process,” Erdogan said in a televised addressed following a Cabinet meeting. “Our stance on this issue is very clear. The rest is up to them.”

    Erdogan said that Sweden in particular was not “projecting a good image,” but didn't elaborate."

    Not a good assessment of the position on the board.. IMO - Gaining Finland and Sweden does what in the grand scheme of thigns .. that doesn't already exist from economic perspective .. which is the real game going on .. Vlad is not going after Finland or Sweden .. but adding these two to NATO will increase the war spend .. weakening those nations economically in the process. Money that could be better spent elsewhere .. fighting the real battle that is taking place

    The loss of Turkey is significant .. one of the Two lynch pins to the ME -- El Saud being the other .. that one fallen into disrepair as well.
    While our hegemony in the ME is -- for all intensive purposes over .. China-Russia will be rebuilding Syria - Iraq - Iran .. El Saud is looking East -- while playing both sides of the fence .. Turkey has been going that direction .. purchasing the S-400 System despite major US protest and threats .. Turkey would be a significant loss .. and they know it .. there are others playing this game as well mate .. beyond the myopic pale.

    Lotsa grandstanding....in the end the Turks will relent....Germany,Poland,Baltics, have all gave it the green light.....Bill....you can bloviate all you like....it's a done deal in the end.:)

    The final result will be Fin/Swe joining NATO Bill....everything else is window dressing.

    NATO ally Turkey lifted its veto over Finland and Sweden's bid to join the Western alliance in June after weeks of tense negotiations where Ankara accused the two Nordic countries of harbouring what Turkey says are militants of the banned Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK).

    As part of the deal, Turkey submitted a list of people it wanted Sweden to extradite, but has since expressed frustration over the lack of progress.

    Sooo Trukey was just being an oportunist...smart.

    As I said earlier....HIMARS are doing their job....Crimea seems to be in play....Fin/Swe are one step closer to NATO....Dwarfstan remains master strategist?:)

    Ukraine isn't a NATO country? And to get involved with Russia at this moment would mean global nuclear war?

    Just keep using the US military machine to pump freedom missles up Putin's ass. Seems to be doing the job.
