This is what happens when you view the world through a terrorist obsessed prism. A tweet saying they were going to party and a joke from family guy are seen as existential threats. It's difficult to take the US seriously about things like Iran when they react like this over a harmless tweet.

I'd be laughing my ass off at you if the implications for the rest of the world weren't so tragic. Seeing as you guys defined corporations as people I think we could perhaps diagnose the US as a paranoid schizophrenic.

Have you seen some of these debates?

The people are insane!!! They act as if the USA owns the whole world and that the USA doesn't apologize for anything. We should just kill anyone who thinks differently because we're right and they're wrong! Then people applaud these crazy buffoons... I don't understand what some people are thinking. They actually thing the NDAA is a good thing. They support the PATRIOT Act. They support our failing war on drugs.

I tend to agree. However, that doesn't change the fact that British citizens or residents coming to America are totally at risk. :) That's the point. Don't come.

Keep Brits out of America. What's the problem with that?

So much for the freedom of speech. This will give us bad rep for the tourists. We need the money.

The most scary thing is they can tract you down that fast, that can arrest you for what you say, this is like communist or worst, facist.

Visiting America can be a tad off-putting at first... My first time was in August 1989. I was still inside the plane, approaching JFK airport, and filling out a document for the US customs. Much to my surprise, they are asking me if I plan to kill the US president... Cheeses, no, I only plan to resuscitate him:omg:

One of those tourists is an Irish national so they're no more British than a Canadian is a US citizen.

He's an Irish resident of the UK. That's not the point. The point is that British are at risk in coming to America.

What Albert is saying is that the presence of the British in America tends to embarrass and even humiliate the hosts .
The far more suave and sophisticated version of Homo Sapiens just highlights the obvious facts that obese and not particularly bright Americans become everybody's pet toy when guns are unavailable .

The report just underlines how non savvy and lacking in humour so many Hilly Billies are .
But well tried Bertie . You can lead a horse to water but you cannot make it think .

I think you'll find your point is that you hate the British.

Another side is that Brits provide a huge segment of your tourism, failing tourism that it.

My advice to Brits is go to France, #1 tourist destination (by nyumber of travellers) for a very very good set of reasons.

At least we can visit when I come to Britain again. It's perfectly safe for Americans over there. Unfortunately, bad shxt happens to the British when they come here. So it goes.

Yeah they need to be serious about this, they don't take this kind of stuff as a joke. Try saying the word bomb on the airport and you'll get arrested for real.

Yes, they are not so smart.... its not like one would really SAY so if they were really plotting something. Oh well..

I think that when you stop to reflect , you will find that the bad shxt , as you call it , happened to your Hilly Billy friends who valiantly mounted the borders with amazing stupidity and a total lack of understanding , let alone humour .
( In fairness some genetic modification is required before Americans can understand real humour - Frasier excepted. )
The two British youngsters were silly not to know how side splittingly unfunny Americans are and how they immediately reach for their dicks if they are wearing uniform .
But the Bozos representing the Disunited States of Decay were an embarrassment .

It's sad that it's come to this. Nevertheless, any British traveler over here is susceptible to the unsubstantiated accusation that he made a terrorist threat. He'll be arrested on the spot, spend time with violent criminals in jail, and get placed on a plane direct to the Sceptured Isle. It's best not to take the risk.

Apparently America can't even afford a direct ticket to the Sceptured Isle.

She did well not to burst out laughing, they might have shot her on the spot for such threatening behavior.

Absolutely. When I think of brits I always think of suave and sophisticated. When I saw clips from the riots and looting in England my first thought was, "Wow, how suave and sophisticated they are." OH, and the clips of suave and sophisticated women are passed out drunk in a ppol of vomit on Saturday night. Suave and sophisticated it is. Who could possibly deny that? And when the football yobs were banned from going to football games on the continent. Suave and sophistcated. I love the suave and sophistcated nitwits on the dole loudly saying they have a right to not work if they don't want to. Of course, we have those suave and sophisticated folks in the U.S., too.

Get a life. I seem to recall the suave and sophistcated British government banning some American or other from taveling to England because of his expressed opinions. Of course, at the same time, radical imams are welcomed with open arms.

Get a life. We have the government that liberals want. They're heading farther into the pits as fast as they gave crawl. SWAT teams raiding dairy farms looking for, gasp, raw milk. Get real.

If the people of any country are to be judged based on stupid actions of politicians and bureaucrats, we're all doomed. Ah, but generalizing from the idiotic to the general population is the favorite pasttime of the silly self-appointed elites. You know, the ones who insist they're suave and sophisticated and everyone else is a hillbilly.

PatrickT, the "Cosi Fan Tutti" argument doesn't cut it.

Americans will lose jobs over this American behaviour. I know lots of people (law abiding, high net worth) who won't travel to America, or transit America because of the threat of this sort of irrational behaviour.

Include me in that group, my holiday money goes to Europe or Asia since 2003, and I advise people against going to the U.S. precisely because of the risk of falling foul of AMerican Authorities.

I watched a Canadian get "The Third Degree" and got "spoken to" by an airport policeman for having the temerity to change queues. That was enough for me.

No longer interested in visiting the worlds largest prison.

I'm left wondering where Marilyn Monroe is actually burried. Perhaps a proper excavation would expose a devastating secret. A story big enough to destroy America:omg:

Tip: Don't go to the US, you might not get through boarder controls now. This would be a joke, but in light of this story and it's paranoid idiocy and the implications of what you jsut wrote, you never know ;-)
