I've seen babies that didn't grow normally in the uterous. They come out looking like aliens...wrinkly and not "right". One child was like this due to her Mothers drinking. She was hard to raise....with hyperactivity and learning difficulties, but now at 19 she's poised, mature is working and a beautiful girl who's ding much better in life then her older " normal" sister. The other child grew into a normal toddler with nutrition.

We don't know this girls future yet....They dknt even know what is wrong. Kudos for the grandfather.

I do appreciate you taking an interest in this baby. But, may I ask, why this one? There are children born every day with rare disorders that are unbearable for the parents, unbearable for the child, why this one?

I suspect it's because this particular child with the particular disorder was picked up by media.

There are, at least, thousands of suffering babies in the world with rare disorders that will suffer and die without anyone caring. Many more than that with caring people, at a lose as to how to ease their suffering.

But this one, because the media thought to include it, becomes the recipient of gofundme, and possibly Sarah Palin.

I'm not making a point. I just think it's odd.

    Why not "this one"?
For whatever reason peppermint twist has been drawn to this little girl and if she's willing to put in the effort to try to help then I applaud her.
It starts with one....Any "one" because ALL children are precious.

My question was, why this one"? It was directed at ceterborist. But since you brought it up, are ALL children PRECIEOUS? Was Hitler a precious child? Was Jeffrey Dahmer? Is Charles Manson? How about Ted Bundy?

You bring a whole new level to the question that I originally asked, "Why one child over another". You bring an entirely new question, "Why any child"? All children are not precious, some of them are born with murderous proclivities. Would you condone the preciousness of that life if you knew he or she would torture and murder your loved ones?

Exactly right. I did explain my feelings about this is an earlier post on the thread, but I am really surprised that people are questioning why if I cannot singlehandedly help all the babies in the world, why would I choose to help one. Anyway, this has become a joint effort for my sister, myself and some of our friends. We contacted a pediatrician that my niece used to use who happens to be Indian and he placed a call to the hospital where this baby was treated. They are willing to accept a care package of behalf of this baby and her grandfather if the grandfather can personally pick it up. We will be attempting to reach the grandfather over the next few days. Sending money via a fund would be iffy due to the impossibility of guaranteeing that the money would get into the right hands, but we certainly can send her stuff that she surely will able to use. Thanks for your post...

No, you are wrong. All children are precious, some children ultimately grow up to be evil, but all children are precious...
Hitler actually had a reasonable childhood, he was a freelance artist, and was well traveled...he didn't start his antisemitic activism until after WWI, he was in his early 30's.
Bundy had a rather dysfunctional family upbringing but still managed to go to college and was known for volunteering in his community. He started his murderous rampage at the age of 26.
Mansons mother was a 16 year old alcoholic and prostitute, she abandoned him as a child and he spent the better part of his younger years in the prison system, mostly for petty crimes like theft and passing bad checks...the "Manson family murders" started when he was around 30.
Dohmers mother was also an alcoholic, to the point where she actually sold Jeffrey to a waitress in a bar, for a pitcher of beer...four days later, Jeffreys uncle found out what had happened and retrieved him...he was physically and mentally abused by his alcoholic step father, and sexually molested by another man when he was a child. his parents divorced when he was 14, walked out to go their own separate ways, and literally left him abandoned and alone. He committed his first murder at 18.

All CHILDREN are precious, Some children (very, very, very few) may grow up to do very bad things.
My wife and I have 5 "foster" children that we are in the process of adopting. We love them dearly, and do everything in our power to make sure that they are cared for, loved, and brought up in a solid family unit...Do you know what they hate....Asparagus and nap time, period, end of discussion. And we will do everything in our power to make sure that it stays that way.

I can't help but to wonder if you feel the same way about puppy dogs. If you found a litter of puppies that where abandoned by their mother, would you just leave them to die? or would you make a simple call to get them the help that they needed to survive? I mean, you never know, those puppies might grow up and actually bite someone one day.

While I'm just as upset about this as you are, I wouldn't call them ignorant and uneducated. I'd say they were lazy and didn't want to put forth the effort that it might take to care for this kid. That's worse than being ignorant and uneducated.

Wow, you should toss that back over the left field fence where you pulled it from.

Peppermint wants to donate to this particular kid and fight for it. If there are other kids that you feel are more important, focus on them. I don't usually care what she has to say but this is her own opinion and if she can help save just one then she's done her part. If she starts a GFM account and you don't want to donate, don't. Her own peeps are questioning her. Y'all should be embarrassed of yourselves.

During his childhood, Dohmer was brutally raped by a Black man. This no doubt was the main contributing factor, as most of the victims Dohmer targeted were Black males. From the details of the murders, it seems he had a sort of twisted hatred against his victims, combined with erotic gratification. Despite the victims all being male, I think it doubtful that Dohmer was actually "gay", rather his sexuality was twisted by the childhood trauma, where he needed to inflict horrific violence in symbolic revenge to experience sexual gratification. Very sad.
