Sadly too many in our society hide and wet their panties while screaming OMG, OMG to 911, while others, real men and women go forth and stop the attackers.

May he rest in peace, instead of looking the other way and calling 911, while people are being shot by thugs, he intervened and shut it down killing one thug in the process.

Derrick Gholston drew his own concealed handgun and confronted the attackers as they were robbing a local barbershop.

Chicago, IL – A Chicago food truck operator with a concealed-carry permit was killed while saving at least 15 citizens from two masked gunman last Saturday night.

Derrick Gholston, 43, was selling jerk chicken from his truck on East 112th Place when the armed suspects approached him at approximately 7:15 p.m., the Chicago Sun-Times reported.

The suspects brandished a handgun and demanded that Gholston hand over some of his property, and he complied, police said.

The attackers then stormed into the nearby Crispy Cuts Barbershop and announced a robbery, just before they shot a 51-year-old man inside the business, WGN reported.

Police said that least 15 people were inside the shop at the time, WMAQ reported.

That’s when Gholston, who was legally carrying his own concealed weapon, raced inside the barbershop to end the gunmen’s rampage, according to WGN.

He engaged in a gunfight with the suspects, and was shot in the process.

One of the masked intruders, later identified as 18-year-old Carlos Smith, was also shot, WGN reported.

The second suspect managed to escape, and the search for him continues.

Gholston and Smith were rushed to Christ Memorial Hospital, where they both died within an hour from gunshot wounds to their torsos, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.

The 51-year-old shooting victim was transported to a local hospital with two gunshot wounds to the leg, and was listed in stable condition.

"This is a guy that saw something terrible that was about to happen, intervened, and it’s the last thing that he did,” resident Nicholas Sidel told WGN. “In my book, he’s a hero…It’s really hurtful to find out that he actually passed away.”
