National Healthcare is not Free. However it will mean cheaper cost for Americans.

It's streamlining the process. Eliminating the repetitive paperwork. Removing the high profit from our Failing medical system.

Removing Doctors from being the recipient of profits in purchasing equipment ( cat-scans etc ) then ordering expensive medical test to enrich themselves.

Taking the employers out of the Healthcare System will make them competitive with companies in countries that don't have the Healthcare cost burden.

We don't call those things Socialism....they are public services. We all benefit the same from those When you want to make industry (like healthcare) a public service, and use it primarily as a means to redistribute wealth because some will not provide their own, then that is the Socialism for which many of us will go to war.

Oh yeah...... tell us about it. I'm sure those countries would welcome you. Wouldn't it be nice for you to live in a better country?

We have that now. No one is ever turned away for an inability to pay. Health care is much more likely to be rationed under a socialist system. 65? No health care for you.

Ours is a mix of both. Our big hospitals (there are usually three or four in each capital city, and one per regional city) are public, plus we have smaller private hospitals for those who value a private bathroom more than their life. And then there's the day to day medicine - that practised outside of hospitals - which is pretty much all private practitioners.

Worth noting that since our public hospitals were always public (and used by the vast majority then, as now), nothing really changed with the introduction of public health.

Nonsense. No essential treatment is ever denied.

Where DO you folk get these whacky ideas from?

The government is a middle man, and they will generally take more than a private corporation will in civil servant incompetance and bureaucratic shortcomings.

I usually see the opposite. I see a charge for the procedure, say $1000, then insurance pays say $600 for the procedure. It might be the hospitals have two versions of the bill. They send the "cash paying is cheaper" to the cash paying patients, and then they send the "insurance is cheaper" to those of us with insurance. I've never seen the insurance rate higher than the quoted rate. I've seen them the same, or the insurance rate is lower.

That's why the only role the government would be allowed to play is forking over a check.

That's still a middleman that is wasting money.
