A 2008 study by the Justice Department found that people denied guns for providing false information about criminal history were 28 percent more likely to commit a crime in the next five years.

They were almost twice as likely to commit firearm-related crimes.

Democrats should focus on legislation that helps federal prosecutors pursue more background check liers. This would be more pragmatic then aiming for legislation that clearly doesn't sit well with the Republican dominated Congress.

What are we to do, make it double secret illegal? If you sign a 4473 (the atf form you sign at an ffl to get a nics check) and you fail, you've committed a crime and you can be prosecuted. The executive branch is in charge of enforcing this and they haven't for a bit..... wonder why

How can you wonder, when it's obvious that leftists want to make more laws, rather than function with the ones we have?

There were 80 thousand background check liers in 2010. The Democrats should put more focus on supporting legislation that gives prosecutors more resources so they're able to prosecute more of these criminals.
