The U.S. has dropped to eighth place in U.S. News and World Report’s “Best Countries” ranking.

This is the second straight year that the U.S. has dropped in the rankings. In 2017, the U.S. came in 7th place. Switzerland came in at the top spot for the second year in a row.

U.S. News said the drop can be attributed to Trump's unpopularity, with other countries viewing the U.S. as less trustworthy and more politically unstable since he took office.

Wait, so what's their methodology in determining rankings? I'm not sure what effect Trump's popularity or how he's percieved by world leaders has on life here.

And yet all those countries above us look to the USA to protect them. It's time to pull our military out of the EU and let them deal with their own problems.

Making decisions that you think are best for YOU, and having the confidence to not give a **** what other people think, is not the same thing as going around and punching people in the face.

For too long we have allowed the world to walk all over us through our charity, humanitarian efforts, and even our protection by funding a military our allies feel they don't need to provide.

Acting in a manner that best serves US may cause the world to drop us in their "list", which is nothing more than opinions, and yet I still maintain... Who cares? We shouldn't.

 

Global citizens panders to the emotional aspects of the ranking. "We are all citizens of planet earth, so we surveyed people who don't live in the United States to ask what they think about us..." again. Who cares?
