"Decent sex education'? You mean these thousands of women don't understand what causes babies? Or what to do, or not do, to avoid pregnancy?

'The Pill' was supposed to liberate women so that they could enjoy a freer sex life unburdened by the fear of pregnancy. Instead there is the pill, the morning after pill, and many other measures which can be taken, yet there are more abortions than ever. No education in the world would be sufficient if these people don't yet know how to look after themselves when it comes to their sexual activities.

Perhaps making abortion more difficult, and making the fathers pay, would make people more responsible for their actions..

 

Everybody suffers from time to time. It doesn't mean they need to die. In my opinion, only God decides that. Your trying to make this about chronically deformed children is really shallow. That was only introduced when the heat got to hot for your liberal buddy.

 

Be real. Married women have abortions as well. Mothers with multiple kids have abortions. Contraception fails. 3% doesn't sound like that much, but when you consider Americans are having sex several million times a year, you're talking 60,000 to 100,000 "surprises". Humans aren't perfect. They get scared. They have mental issues. Families collapse. Girls get raped. Crap happens.

Were not talking kids born without a limb or something - we're talking about Zika babies born with their brains outside the body. Were talking hearts so weak that the baby could only survive on life support. Were talking about babies born with undeveloped spines.

 

I work with a charity that aids children with chronic diseases. For a great many we are only prolonging their lives for a short time. How long before your ilk decides they are not worth saving either?

 

Asinine statement on your part. The doctors are dealing with babies with NO realistic chance of survival - babies on life-support. They are just removing life-support and allowing nature to take it's course. Your pathetic bombastic hyperbole doesn't change the Best Practices protocol of doctors and hospitals that was in place BEFORE this law. Please stop the crazy talk.

Most abortions are in the first trimester and can be done with drugs. You're barking up the wrong tree. Besides, two-thirds of Americans think the decision should be up to the woman in the first trimester.

 

I made it clear I was talking about babies who can't survive for more than a short period of time. Why do they have to suffer because as a society we can't put in place and respect hospital protocols for dealing with catastrophic birth defects?

to adulthood is a person and entitled to all rights.
Of a normal 40 week pregnancy, that occurs around 23 Weeks.
With the assistance of neonatal intensive care but, still survive.


Anti Abortion folks need to put some effort into the alternatives.
Such as pre birth adoption.
Adoption allowing biological mother's involvement.
Any variation beyond the customary, blinded adoption system.
Of course the adopting parents need absolute protection from
a birth mother coming in later to make claim on custody, etc.
And a release from the biological father too.

I'm not saying she shouldn't, but if she (pl.) did and used them, (note those two words?) then the world wouldn't be on countdown to detonating the over-population time-bomb would it? Contraception devices/methods don't work unless they deployed/practiced do they - am I really having to point this out; it's so obvious that I think I might be missing something.
