Republicans will probably manage to reduce voter turnout, but this makes them look like jerks. What's the point, other than appeasing Trump and his apologists?

I am tentatively hopeful that a "quiet storm" happens and Democrats and Middle-roaders see through these games and bullying tactics and will turn out to vote for their POTUS again.

Democrats used Covid to change voting laws often unconstitutionally.

All the way up to 2018 democrats complained that voting was unsecure using Dominion machines.

Now they are embracing what they fought against and are fighting to make voting less secure.

There can only be one reason. They found unsecure voting can be used to their advantage in democrat controlled cities in swing states.

Legislatures decide voting rules. Democrats used 300 lawsuits to get courts to change voting rules due to Covid. Not the courts jurisdiction.

The Democrats want to preserve their advantage of anonymous voting and vote by mail ballots that are picked up by ballot harvesters.
All of which are fraud prone, especially when you have to sue states to get them to clean up their tolls of dead, moved, and ineligible voters.
Vote fraud is not a victimless crime.

I probably wont vote again, so I don't care too much, but I think GOP is making a mistake by so blatantly trying to restrict voting rights while using conspiracy theories as excuses.

Did folks hear Biden's speach about this today?? One of his better and certainly more pointed speeches to date. IMHO.......he was spot on. There seems t be a movement (by the R's ) to curtail voting to certain segments of the population...........under the excuse of not proven voter fraud.......etc. What makes the R's think that by doing this......they will get more votes . They have proven themselves to be very poor and immature loser.......... because of their devotion to ONE man..........as if this was a dictatorship.

Biden has to realize he is not dealing with the kind of Republican party he used to know. They are an unknown entity.......... in nature and in motives.

Why won't you vote again?? If everyone adopted that attitude........ how on earth can the US claim to be a example of a democratic nation??. Other nations are watching this closely. ........particularly those that don't want their people to vote for their gov't.

How then......can we with a straight face support the population of Cuba asit rebels against is communistic gov't.??.........if we don't care about our own election process??......and that precious right to vote. A functioning effective democracy needs responsible citizens doing their part.

I am certainly no expert on this matter but I'm of the opinion there are two separate issues here:

    1. Republicans are outnumbered by Democrats and Middles so the ONLY way to get ahead in the race is to remove the opportunity for Ds to vote. They can call it whatever but the purpose is to make it as difficult as possible for legal votes to actually vote. That's just basic math.

    2. The 2nd issue is more problematic in that Trump has the party in his palm and he's not going to let go. This would be a great opportunity for them to say "we had a 4 year run, there were mistakes but life goes on. How do we adjust to the current market and get the people to stand behind us?"

Quite frankly, Trump just does NOT have it in him to give someone else the glory. As long as he has breath in his body, he is going to complain, neuter whomever he feels like and stand there holding a lighter after he's thrown gasoline on all of us. He does not care how many people might exact a civil war because he'll be safe somewhere far away. I'm going to stop 2 seconds before saying he's a sadist but...Well.

The other day @Darthcervantes posted about some of his liberal friends getting on his nerves when they talk politics. He surprised me because he commented that while that *topic* was hit-or-miss between them, he really liked his friends visiting and they are great people. I admit I was taken aback because his name is the first one I think about when anybody posts anything positive about Democrats (lol). So, just for argument's sake, let's say that Darth is the COMPLETE total opposite of those of us that can't stand Trump. His willingness to talk to his friends and appreciate the value they add to his life OUTSIDE politics gives me hope that ALL of us can do it. Why can't we stop and remember that ALL of us are American citizens and it's our country.

The bottom line is simple: Do we want to win the battle (convincing others to side with our political stance) or win the war (getting over all the hate and animosity and working together for the good of our country)? Hands down, I know which I choose.

I dont want to partake in something that has become the joke of the world. We vote, and then the losers start whining and inventing conspiracies about stolen elections. Heck, the elections were in November and they are still whining and talking about audits, voter restrictions and other nonsense. Besides, the two party system is a lost cause. I might vote again when things change.

I did not listen to it, but I scanned the speech for those words and did not find a match, so it is impossible to know what you mean. Right now the "cyber ninjas" are counting and they are a company who promotes the conspiracy theories.

"Cyber Ninjas", a partisan group, is counting votes....! Like I said, its the joke of the world.

I understand totally what you are saying. I agree about the two party system being ineffective. It is binary and fosters division by its virtue of that nature.
I do think we are in an unusual situation due to the Trump effect. aka The BIG LIE affect. His inability to accept his loss........ and continued promotion of the big lie........ reinforces the fact the man is not psychologically healthy.. He will continue to live in his deluded world.......... and if that is what is controlling the GOP...........then the GOP is in real trouble........and whose motives have to be questioned. Their actions are not those of a democratic nature.

Do you recall a time in your lifetime in which either party acted within democratic nature? It's more than obvious that all of them have been self serving to justify their positions and pay checks while, we, the people, are thinking "WTH?"

Do you have any ideas on how to get this back into some semblance of what democratic rule is supposed to look like? I believe Trump set us back about 50 or more years. It's going to take a minute to get it cleaned up.

Not sure we can "go back"......... and things might have to reach " critical mass.".......before there is a renewed realization and appreciation of what true democracy is. Democracy itself needs to evolve with time and change. One thing that comes to mind......... is that there should be specific qualifications for the job of POTUS. Not just having the money to run a campaign. All jobs have requirements , being a certain skill set, education level, appropriate to the field.,

The point is to protect the integrity of elections. What’s so hard about getting an ID? Kamala claims certain Americans can’t do it but somehow they all find ID’s to acquire liquor, weed, and tobacco. This won’t stop anyone from voting.

also I am very well aware that the presidential election is not at risk of being changed by illegals. I’m not making that argument, but local elections most definitely could.

They have voter ID and no early voting for one thing. I'm good with that.

What do you have against early voting?

It should be as easy as possible for people to vote.

There is nothing inherently wrong with voting early, voting by mail or even sending ballots to every registered voter. Lots of places already do this. The important thing is to make sure there are sufficient safeguards in place. And that is certainly possible, evidenced by the fact that lots of places do this successfully.

There is really only one reason Republicans want to make it harder to vote: they find the things that disproportionately affect Democratic voters, and implement them to suppress Dem turnout.

It’s about Rs retaining power in spite of a lack of support.
