Lol, sure - hey, maybe Santa Clause is the reason the market tanked! Trump is always looking to assign blame to some imaginary bogeyman, this fits right in.

Are you saying that Santa is not real? Are you starting a war against Christmas?

Actually before Nixon took America off the Gold Standard gold was pretty steady always hovering around the mid $30. per ounce.

Before Nixon, FDR made it illegal for Americans to own gold bullion including gold coins.

When the **** hits the fan like if we were knocked off the electrical grid those who are most likely to survive are those who took personal responsibility to prepare.

If you don't know how to hunt and fish and dress a dead deer...you are going to die.
If you don't know how to grow your own food...you are going to die.
If you are young and are completely dependent on technology...you are going to die.
If you don't possess guns and ammunition, your wife and daughter are going to be raped and you are going to die.

    Gold will always have value.
.22 ammunition will be worth its weight in gold.

What's the best conductor of electricity ?
Not copper but #1 is silver, #2 is gold.

Look at the recent prepper thread to see my opinion on this. Just to look at hunting: The US has a deer population of 30 million. With 340 million people looking for food, how long do you think these 30 million deer would last?

Of course, in the prepper fantasy, reality and numbers don't play a role.

Most people are not going to survive and die.

How many can survive and live being of the grid ?
Hunters, fishermen and farmers. Some call them deplorables.

How many can survive without government ?

We have already seen what happens with people who are dependent on government when government and government fails and is no where to be found.
The Los Angeles riots in 1992 and New Orleans with hurricane Katrina.

You seem to be forgetting that most of the violent people and criminals live in urban area. If **** hit the fan, they'll range out and take out the hunter, fisherman and farmers and steal their stuff. This isn't a Rambo movie. If a mob descend on you, all your guns won't help you when they burn your house around you.

No need to prep yourself. All you have to do is spot those who do, take them out and steal their ****.

Most bad hombres living in urban areas don't know how to master the use of firearms let alone hunting, fishing and exploiting the land.

Don't need to. Quantity is a quality in itself in time of war. And they don't have to hunt, they just have to take a prepper out.

Let me start by saying that I am not picking on you. I respond to you because you are one of the few people on this board that is willing to have an honest exchange of ideas.

It is hard to legitimately argue that the recent stock market malaise is anything other than being due to uncertainty surrounding sanctions and China. The recent arrest of the Chinese Tech executive has things particularly tense currently, and the stock market tanked immediately following that action. Aside from that high level of uncertainty, the fundementals of the economy remain remarkably strong.

With that being the case, you cannot credibly blame this on "the sugar high of tax cuts burning itself out". If that were the case, the fundementals of the economy would reflect a corresponding downturn that reflected the level of stock market drop, and that most certainly is NOT the case. I realize that you are simply parroting the left talking points on the issue, but their talking points dont make a lick of sense. This Chinese tariff issue is either going to work itself out and the stock market will return, or it will not be solved, and the stock market will continue to tank. None of this has ANYTHING to do with a hypoglycemic response to tax cuts.

The left has been waiting for the economy to tank so that they can say I told you so in regards to tax cuts, and they are using this recent stock market downturn to do just that. If/when the China tariff negotiations work themself out, the stock market will return, and the left will be silent again about the sugar high, only to merrily bring it out again whenever the economy does in fact have a legitimate downturn. The economy is cyclical, and at some point there will DEFINITELY be a legitimate downturn, and you can rest assured that the left will pretend like the only reason for it is because of tax cuts, despite the fact that we all know the economy always goes through downturns.
