Read Krauthammer's column above. He is about as right wing as they come but he is perfectly, correctly and absolutely spot on about this.

pssst You are confusing 'Indian words' with 'words for Indians'. Apples and oranges. Hell, more like apples and cocker spaniels.

Redman isn't a word for Indian? I don't know what your smoking but it must be really good stuff. The wife's a card caring Cherokee. She couldn't care less. I haven't heard a word about it out of the Cherokees, Chickasaws Choctaws or any of the rest of the casino owners here in OK.

I didn't say you were an ignorant person.

The word ignorant just means lack of information. Not offensive.

I am ignorant about rocket science.

Native Americans have been protesting the name for over 40 years. Are you suggesting it's okay to ignore them since they are a minority?

And Dan Snyder has already (*)(*)(*)(*) all over the brand name. So why do you feel the need to defend it?

And the name, itself, has existed for 82 years. Thus by your own math, it's been used for over twice as long as it's been protested. Additionally, the team's very first head coach under that name was a part-blood Sioux.

Not at all. Are you suggesting that they should get special treatment because they are a minority? Since I can't help but notice that you don't seem to be too offended by the Mexican restaurant called Gringo's. It doesn't make much sense to find one offensive and turn a blind eye to the other, does it? Don't you believe in equality? Where is the crusade against Gringo's? Where are all the allegations of a "stupid, racist name" whose patents should no longer be valid?

Could be because it's the name they've had for over 80 years...the Washington Redskins and headquartered in Redskin Park and the name was not offensive to anyone until recently. No doubt the name has been spoken millions/billions of times over the last eight decades and again only recently has become offensive to some people. I personally don't find it offensive because of the history of the sports team and continued use every day for over 80 years. However, if it must be changed, then don't make a big deal about the Redskins...talk about all slang use of Native American Indian terms and work forward to facilitate appropriate change.

It's fine if you believe the name is 'offensive and stupid' but don't assume everyone else feels the same way...
