We know all the demands. Also know that the bulk of them is a demand on other people to provide it.
There is such a lack or rationality in most of this that it becomes nothing more than a kid demanding candy.
Everything has a price, a cost to do it. Mostly financial, but also in forms of restrictions on others, imposing a burden on them to please you.
The key to most of these ideas of the left is to force someone else to pay or do.
These days, the key words are all synonyms- Free, Deserve, Entitled, Easy, etc. Fair is only used like a two-headed coin, which always supports the demand- of the left.
Why ignore what we are doing, ignore the progress and facts? I know. Need more free stuff to be "happy". You're entitled. In my opinion, you are entitled to anything you are willing to pay for.

1- We've been working on clean air and water diligently for decades, and making progress.
2- A living wage implies that no matter the value or nature of your contribution... you should make a living at it. That violates basic laws of economics .
3- Medicare for all. I for example have medicare and a supplement. You may think it's free but it's not, I spend about $1,000 a month on it for two people. Ready to pony up, or do you expect me to pay yours too?
4- Affordable daycare and college? Again, paid for by- WHO? Daycare people work too, and it's not a gold mine. Teachers and facilities cost money. What's "affordable" to you would directly limit what you get.
5-Equal pay for equal work. Most people don't have a problem with that, but there's a lot more to it, like attitude and productivity. Some people in similar jobs are a lot more beneficial than others.
6- Make voting "easier"? All that limits voting now- is the security of the voting system. I walk in, prove who I am with a drivers license, and vote. Doesn't get much easier than that- it's an invalid complaint.
7-Sensible gun laws. They are already insensible overkill- and ineffective, because only law-abiding citizens follow them. Such laws do NOT address criminal use of guns at all.
8-Invest in infrastructure? Going on all the time. Even so, the majority of the costs for this are being paid by the minority of taxpayers.

We already subsidize lower income, to the point that almost half of our "taxpayers" pay no tax at all. They receive the benefits of that taxation, they just don't contribute.
Funny thing- I've never heard of one saying think you for the freebies. Just asking for more and complaining.

Have you really never heard of people finding themselves with enough free time that they decide to get a part time gig somewhere just to make some extra cash that they don't need but would enjoy spending (or saving) nonetheless? Some of the more common types of people who do this a lot are teachers (during summer break), homemakers (once the kids start school), wildland firefighters (during the winter), retirees (who realize they hate being home all the time), students (who are covered by loans and scholarships, but still want money for beer and spring break)... hopefully you get the idea. There's all sorts of people who want a job that isn't mandated to pay a living wage. The types of jobs they tend to get will dissapear if we make those jobs pay more than they're worth.

No problem, Stephan. No problem at all.

Scientifically speaking, the sky can not fall.

What business is it of the business to know her 'expenses'? What if she buys fast food three times a week, and visits her hairstylist once a fortnight, and buys a new iphone every twelve months, and lives in an area she can't really afford, and lives alone or in a single family and thus pays 100% of the rent? That's not her employer's problem, that's HER problem.

How can you possibly know what a 'living wage' is? Every individual in a given area will have a different threshold for 'livable', and it will be entirely dependent upon how much they spend. And no two people ever spend the same amount - even when they have identical income and identical expenses.

So you think that students etc should be shut out of the easier part time jobs which ideally suit their circumstances? Because that is what will happen. When you pay a higher hourly rate the caliber of your applicants increases, and kids without much experience and/or disabled people etc, stop getting those gigs.

Our pal is not remotely interested in improving the human condition - it's all about being seen to be huggy and compassionate.

Most of the philosophy he/she espouses is super destructive.

It's a completely arbitrary number. "Living wage" is a buzz word devoid of empirical measure.

Your position isn't coming from the Science side. Or you're not presenting your case effectively.

Scientifically define free people and how they remain free in a society?

There is no "free people". Only free individuals.

Then to remain a free individual, one must refrain from society. For when one interacts with another, an agreement has to be made. A contract abided by. And all parties involved have to be 100% honest.
    I don't see that as 100% possible.

So to remain completely free, one needs to be alone.

Read what I wrote again, please.

Two individuals can have exactly the same income and basic expenses (mortgage/rent, utilities, education, etc) and yet have entirely different financial status. Financial status is not decided by how much we earn, but by how much we spend beyond those basic essentials.

Take food, for example. One person might spend their food budget on more expensive processed and convenience foods, while the other buys only the cheapest basics (rice, beans, in-season fresh produce, etc) and thus comes out way ahead. One person might include beer in their food budget, while the other drinks only water.

How a person handles money is Irrelevant. You give them enough to survive if they manage their money correct at a minimum.

In my area that's 2k per month minimum. In others its 4k paying less is slave wage.

In your world, how many hours should they work for this 2k and 4k?

    1) You have to be joking, right? What if you give them that 'liveable wage' and they blow it all gambling?

    2) IF they manage their money? How in hell do you plan to enforce that?

    3) What happens when that 2k is wasted on fast food and new shoes?

It's always worth remembering that they never think any of this stuff through. That's why the Progressive Left is a disaster for economies, and for the human condition. They just vainly emote for the peasants, like clueless aristocrats.

I don't care how people spend their money the living wage is the amount needed pay for basic needs. If someone wastes their money on gambling or drugs that's their problem not mine not the government.

I don't I say the cost of living is 2400 I'll give you $17 so you have some spending money as well and if you waste it away thats on you not on me.

    Oh well sucks for them.

Apparently you think we should pay people below a living wage because that's better than the small amount who will waste the money even if its a living wage.
