~ CNN ..? Did they also quote the total "official" Wuhan virus death count in China is under 10 thousand ? Do they report on the claim that U.S. military is the source of the virus ? Did they cover that story China claims to have a vaccine ?
The only thing China is eating is corn, meat and soybeans they buy from the U.S. because they can't grow their own. They now have a food shortage.
Look for information - not news. News is hype tainted with agenda. Try for facts.

No wonder you are so angry ...

~ If the U.S. did not have a strong military we would not be here. Neither would Japan, South Korea , Australia , New Zealand and other peaceful nations. USA stands in the way of much evil in the world.
Let's all hope China becomes the next great communist super-power ! [IMG]

Economic power decides FAR more issues than does military power.

Take a look at our own history.

Did military might win in Korea?
Did military might win in Vietnam?
    Did military might solve Afghanistan?
    Did military might solve Libya?
    Did military might solve Iraq?
    Does military might solve Iran?
Does military might solve the US proxy war of Israel/Palestine that has continued for 20 years?
Does military might solve North Korea?
    Does military might solve Syria?
    Does military might solve Russia?

What HAS military might solved since WWII?

I agree that we need to maintain a strong military posture and that things would be worse had we not done so, but suggesting that is sufficient is simply absurd. There are just FAR too many important issues where military might just isn't an appropriate approach.

Today, we have serious trade issues with China.

What's the chance that will be solved by war?

~ They have been taking over for the last 40 years thanks to administration after administration allowing this to happen. The Clinton administration got them into the WTO without thinking about the repercussions of a communist superpower. Trump is the first one to put the brakes on this - much to the dissatisfaction of China's communist government.
You statistics are from the CCP - they cannot be trusted. They are not verified because the U.S. never made that a mandate - until Trump / Pompeo came along. It is very likely that China is actually on the skids but will never be honest. That is not how communist governments do business.
Sad that some think this is all new and has recently happened. Being wrapped up in Trump hate and obsessed with people wearing masks is a useless distraction.
Elect the Democrats and our grandchildren will never know about the U.S. Constitution, Bill of Rights , liberty and capitalism.

If you want to cover your eyes and pretend that China isn't economically taking advantage of our failure to deal with this pandemic that's on you.

    It IS happening.

Thanks for starting such a positive & non political thread.

I doubt that I'd be around to write this if it were not for the kindness of complete strangers so that's why I, too, try to "Pass it on" when the opportunity presents itself.

It doesn't have to cost a lot to be kind to complete strangers. For example, when I'm at a toll booth, I'll frequently pay the toll for the person behind me and, since there are fewer more thankless jobs than being a toll taker, I'll, sometimes, give lottery tickets to toll takers.

Again, it doesn't take much to put a smile on someone else face just as kindness is its own reward.

On a slightly less heart warming note...
I'm a blacksmith and when I was in the process of restoring a 3 ton mechanical hammer (aka "trip hammer" / "power hammer") that was made in 1911, I needed an industrial belt for the belt drive.
The guy who made this industrial belt refused to to take any money for anyone who would go through the trouble to fix up an old machine like that simply because he, too, was fond of old machines.

I am all for inserting kindness into everyday life. I am not sure, however, how kind people fit into the capitalist system, in which every interaction between humans is judged by the profit that is being made. Kind people are suckers. That's what society teaches the young ones.

I weld and fabricate many things but mainly custom bi and tri cycles. Here is one for disabled folks. Been wanting to make a furnace and crucible to cast metals besides ant mound casting and round lead ball for my cap n ball. I have a giant, antique belt wheel from I think old farm equipment, (well, I had it, a friend took a fancy so I gave it to him) DSCN0306.JPG

I think you missed one of the points here. It doesn't matter who the recipient is, rich or poor, it's the idea that someone did something kind. I've been on both sides of that equation, and I may not be rich, I'm not poor either. I appreciated the hell out of having my breakfast being paid by the person in front of me at the counter, and I thanked her for it. We had a nice conversation for about 10 minutes on nothing important.

I've paid for people's groceries when their EBT card wasn't working, I've bought a weeks worth of basic groceries for families in hard times. Most of it anonymously. True charity needs no recognition, but knowing you've 'spread a little kindness' helps in keeping your heart and mind in balance for what matters.

How so? I would be still living in Chicago if it wasn't for the Democrat high taxes.

There is a verse in the Bible that says something like let not your left hand know of the alms you give with your right. The point of course is that you don't give to buy heaven or to gain respect hear on earth but because it is the right thing to do. One if the differences between heaven and hell is that in heaven everyone seems to serve while in hell everyone waits to be served.

Sometimes we need to be reminded that America IS NOT what's portrayed daily on the "if it bleeds it leads" news "media".

You could have had that nice conversation without the need for her to buy your breakfast. You like most of the posters conflate spending money with "kindness" and therein lies the problem.

Ah, false assumptions. You made an assumption that I don't have conversations with 'strangers' from just being behind them in line, or passing in the street, or fielding a phone call.

I don't make noise about the things I do, many which don't involve money at all, but since I don't, you assume they don't happen. This thread was started on someone's story about a particular situation. I followed that theme.

Here's a short version of things I do.

Mow the neighbors lawn. As in a neighbor 5 miles away after her husband fell from a ladder.
Deliver excess veggie garden bounty to a family in need.
Drive Mrs. Wagner to the doctor when she wasn't feeling well and ETHRA wasn't available.
Bring bottled waters to a Mom and 3 kids whose tire went flat and her husband was leaving work 20 miles away to come get them (no spare)

Shall I continue? Learn your mark before you say wrong things.

And exactly why I don't bother saying anything about what I do, but you were sure to jump to other conclusions, now weren't you?

Your lack of acknowledgment of your error is noted. Your snark is also noted.
