I have not watched tv for about two years, or more. I prefer to pick out things to watch, on the net, rather than be sat there, watching sport, rubbish reality shows, and soaps. In fact I do not even own a TV now. Pointless, esp since we must pay a licence fee here. However. The other day, I happened to go to my parents. I turned on the tv, first time I had watched it in two years, remember, and something struck me. As I flicked through the channels, there seemed to me an unusually high, actually almost relentless genre of vampire, warewolf, demons, zombie type programes, all around different settings. I realise the concepts themselves are not new, however, what struck me was the sheer saturation of what I say, and, to be honest, for a young audience, I actually found some of the imagery a bit disturbing, and it is aimed at a young audience. Well you can blame Twilight for that as well as the previous success of shows like Buffy and Charmed. But rather than these supernatural shows I find - based on my daughters viewing, the airwaves are swamped with reality shows. The day the internet conquers live sport is the day I will be selling my TVs as well
I'm pretty sick of vampires and werewolves, but I love zombie shows and movies. Zombies are basically punching bags. The "weirdness" I hate on TV nowadays is all that gay (*)(*)(*)(*) they keep beating people over the head with.
I agree theres tons of B rated horror flicks I have to guess they make money or they wouldnt be making them
between all of this crap, let us not forget about the proliferation of cops shows, reality and fictional,as well. Then add to the mix these abominations they call commercials. 99% of all TV shows promote cops and sex. IMHO, TV is a vast wasteland of sheer stupidity.
I probably don't pay enough attention to zombie shows, nor do I watch very much TV, but it seems to me that reality TV is most prevalent. Its just a guess though. Since we record most of what we watch, and have a favorite channel line up, I do miss most of the other stuff that's going on.
We dvr the shows we want to watch like you and bypass the other garbage. In the morning I switch from Morning Joe to fox and friends and Cnn and laugh at the difference in reporting on the same incident. When you do that the slant become ever so much more evident. Overall I rate Tv as alot of garbage
