    I AM A BELIEVER!!!!!

My daughter and I went... They first had a Baptism of four people, and the last time we went there was a Baptism and my daughter starting just crying her eyes out and said that something inside her head was telling her that she needed to be Baptized... Funny that when we went back, to the same daggum church, they were Baptizing again... She exploded in tears!!

    Again...

Then it happened... Every song they sang dealt with my life... Every chorus dealt with me... There was no preaching after that - oh no... They just called on anointing and it was awesome - said to step out in the aisles... Of course I didn't move from my pew, but everyone else did, and I will tell you this. I FELT HIM!!! or her... Or whatever... IT WAS THERE!!!

I couldn't hold it... I could not hold it. I started to cry... Me - a grown ash man, Marine... cried like a baby! I believe it was the Holy Spirit was running through the whole place! While the Pastor was putting anointing oil on folks, people in the aisles were just passing out (2 to be specific) and I have only seen that as a child at a church and they tried it on me and it didn’t happen. I never believed it until now. I can’t explain how it was… I can’t explain how I felt… I can only say. Now I know why Believers in God are what they are! They have felt His presence and it is nothing like anything of this world.

Better than any drug I have ever taken… Better than any woman I have ever had… Better than life itself…. I have never in my life been so happy that I cried before. Never…

Well, to say the least, my daughter and I have decided to give out life to God. That church will be our home. And what I liked best about this church and why I kept getting called back? It’s because I think that it’s how Heaven (if there is one) will be. A mix. I was next to blacks, whites, Asians, Hispanics… It was every race, income, lifestyle, everything! And it’s not a huge church, only about 100 folks… Ah… I have to give you all the link!!!

    http://www.newsongpdx.com/

I don’t know what to say.. Once you become a believer – it’s weird… I have SO MANY QUESTIONS!!!!

I have cried while listening to Tool, so much of their music brings me to my knees, lays my heart before me, and asks "who are you as a person?".

Does that mean that Tool is divine and a product of god?

Does being overwhelmed by an emotion count as a religious experience?

    I think not.

Start by reading the Gospel of John as foundational scriptures about the life & divinity of Jesus. And churches are great for getting fellowship and often the milk of the word of God, but you also have the Holy Spirit whom scripture says is not only our Comforter, but also our Teacher 'who leads us into all righteousness.'

And also most importantly, "Do not put your eyes upon men, for men will disappoint you EVERYTIME! Keep your eyes upon the Son of Man, aka the Son of God, as your example...for He will not fail you as earthly men will." Men are but human and all men fail at one time or another.

God's best with your new start in life..Bro OD

BTW, your experience with your daughter sounds almost exactly like mine but with my wife.., We both walked down the aisle in tears (I was reluctant, as the typical guy,, but eventually followed her) and we were both water baptized that night. I spent the whole day "on cloud nine," as in having this 'rosy, warm feeling' all day that peaked that night during baptism...water baptism doesnt 'save' one as such, but it is the open identifying with the death & resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Congrats DBM, I am happy for you.

My only caution would be to watch out for the adversary. You have enetered a period of joy, but the adversary is out there. You will be tempted, you will face a trail. It evens out though.

Enjoy what you have found. You've earned it. :)

I dont 'get' Wolfie's posts as I finally resigned to put him on my Ignore List: but dont let such as him, who disguise themselves as 'sincere & concerned' about you or anyone else, in stealing your joy.

Remember this day what scripture calls, "The Joy of your Salvation," for you have many days ahead of you in what Paul calls a 'race,' which is in fact a marathon, where the runners may get tired, stop & rest, and some will drop out, but pace yourself so that you will run it to it's completion.

Always "remember the Day of your Salvation' during the hard & dry times...for all Christians have them as that is part of the testing of our faith during life's storms.

But, you say that you 'are' a Marine (as once one, always one), then you know about self-discipline and staying the course. BTW, God is "semper fi" also....<wink> OD

No, we are talking about how you listened to music and converted from Christianity to Christianity.

You are not fooling anyone...... except for the gullible.

Let me be the first in this group to say "Praise the Lord". Study Gods word daily and lean on the guiding of the Holy Spirit. You now KNOW that voice as that voice is the voice that spoke to your inner being while you were being led down the aisle to salvation. If a 'voice' comes to you that does not sound right, then challenge that voice: 1 John 4: 1 - 3 and 1 Corinthians 12: 3

Bless you Brother and make it a practice to pray with your daughter when you can.

To tell you all the truth... I am REALLY SCARED!!!

A Christian sister uses this as a signature line on all of her e-mails to me. I want to share this with you, as it has been a real blessing to me.

    "
He will cover you with his feathers; and under his wings you will find refuge. Psalms "

Also Read Psalms 26, 27, 28. Very important message there.

Let me just give you a 'heads up.' The aisle I walked down and the church that I was baptized in was a Southern Baptist church. Loved the pastor, but my wife and I were young and went out dancing & drinking (not to drunkenness!); and when we naively mentioned that, we started getting the cold shoulder from some of the attendees! S. Baptists dont dance nor drink alcohol. But remember the religious ppl of His time (the Jewish Pharisees) who called Jesus a "glutton & a drunkard" for supping (dining) with the common folk of His time....start reading that Gospel of John, as God works on the inside of ppl to change them, and the outside will take care of itself...BTW, I still drink beer & wine 'in moderation' and havnt turned my back on the Lord nor 'gone to Hell..yet??" ha ha

EDIT: But I do highly recommend not drinking B4 going to church, as you know how it feels to be sober while sitting for 1 hr next to someone who has been drinking (ergo 'smells of booze') ! <wink>

    HA!!!

Man... Look... When I was weeping like a... well... youknowwhat and holding my daughter in my arms... It was like, like nothing I can possibly imagine. It was like a dream – I don’t even believe it now, it seems like it never happened.

Now, going off of what Neutral stated. After I took my daughter to her mothers, all I wanted was Scotch! Cigarettes (recently quit)! Women!! It was like it all just vanished… Wiped clean from my mind… But, that feeling I had – it happened, and it was REAL!

"Having" to read the Bible, again?! Sounds like torture! Get a NIV or something easy to cut your 'spiritual teeth' on initially...you can also Search topics Online with sites such as:

    To study particular topics:

    http://bible.com/ or

Particular scriptures if you know the Book/Chap/Versus:

    http://bibleresources.bible.com/passagesearch.php

BTW, it is the "washing of the Word' (as scripture calls it), whereas today we would call it "reprogramming" by the Word of God, that changes one......you dont get it thru osmosis. As being in a garage doesnt make one a car; and so, being in a church doesnt make one a Christian!

Come on man… It’s like half ridiculously boring and repetitive, and the other… Well, that is why it’s the Bible now isn’t it… I don’t want to read it ALL over again…

Can I just skip to the Good Parts.. and yes – the boring parts are torture!! I can use parts of The Book to punish my children for Pete’s sake… Light seven candles and use seven velvet carpets… John got busy with Jan and had 8 kids named… Uhhhh…

    Not all of it please!!!!

    Oh… I go here - http://www.biblegateway.com/ I really can’t believe it happened… That I have made my choice…. I don’t think I am ready…

Believe me… posting is helping me! :)

Yes you can. Just don't allow ego to be the guide. Let the Holy Spirit do the walking. You just follow that leading of the Holy Spirit.

You indicate that you have previously read the Bible... so let it go at that. Now turn your physical energy that you have already expended, over to the Holy Spirit and He will bring to remembrance the things necessary for you tow walk the walk and talk the talk. Plus, He will also give you interpretation and understanding of what you have already read. Pray and ask for that guidance; and give thanks for having already received it.

Posting is exercising your faith. The more you post, the bigger and stronger that faith will grow. Keep on keeping on.
