It just comes across as petty. You make far better arguments. This one seems to undermine your seriousness, which with my "likes" I often show respect for.
I'm willing to accept that particular line as a joke. One writer who took it literally said that referred to very small children (and perhaps a few village idiots) who literally had not yet learned or could not fathom the difference betweenthe two hands or at least had never learned which was which in association with the correct adjectives. If it's a joke it refers to the majority of the city's population being very dumb (as Jonah probably perceived them prejudicially). Does anyone have a documented estimate of Nineveh's population in the 700s bc? Funny, Taikoo, I was writing about you around 2:30 this morning (EDT) in that other place in a thread about people leaving the forum. I didn't mention you by name, though.
Ok as an objection to scripture, it is. Talking about whether "the flood" is literal, as an objection to scripture is petty to educated christians. To your fundy, tho, it is life and death, nothing petty at all about it. If the flood is fiction then the bible is and their entire structure of their lives is shattered.
At least you didn't call me a liar. Yes, there are approximations, and even probable copyist errors, but these in no way change the meaning of scripture. You're picking nits. - - - Updated - - - Apparently Jesus Christ was one of those 'fundies', He says in Matt. 24:37-38: “But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. “For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark,”
Ok. Seems pretty self explanatory to me. - - - Updated - - - Well, at least the person that wrote Matthew was.
Cool, another of your cliche-arguments. I know that you said in different words than I, that the meaning of the bible is different according to who reads it. Well, how to drive a car, for one. We know a lot of things now that were not known 2000 yrs ago. One of them is that the flood is a myth. Curious, tho, why its not an essential to you, that there really-really was a flood. If there wasnt, then Jesus was lying, or ignorant, and if he was one or both of those, then what kind of son-a-god is that? How do you get out of that? How does one prove there was no flood? Seriously? First, lets find out what you believe. Was it world wide flood, all people and all other living things from the land and air ,but what was on the ark wiped out? Water over the top of Mt Everest, some 29,000 of so feet deep? Flood lasting a year or so? is that what you believe? not too hard to show that is about as silly a story as one could think of. Disagree with that diamonds are made of carbon and that gold is dense and malleable. It is of no consequence to what is real and what is not. There was no flood.
"Meine Ehre heisst Treue" (="My honor is [blind] loyality") has nothing to do with god. If you watched the video "1934 - Reichsparteitag - Nuernberg (Leni Riefenstahl)" ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AJ0SDn1L0lU ) then it should be clear for you - and everyone else in this world - that this was not only politics but also a kind of religious ceremony, where Hitler was as well the high priest and god of the completly new cult "Nationalsozialismus".

Are you presenting this fictional account as some kind of evidence, or did you think it was a documentary?
Either that or you are either lying or ignorant. I don't know all the details, you can't even tell me how the first non-life became life. I am curious how here in the Rio Grande Valley there is 1,500' of water-deposited sediment in an area that gets 9 inches of rain a year. You sound like a parrot.
