A Czech newspaper wrote that the West is demonizing Putin out of frustration about Russia's social and political advances of the past fifteen years. If we look at facts, they have to be right because there is no reason a nation like Germany, would hurt itself economically and even risk the break up of the EU...not to mention even a war in order to do Washington's bidding. I mean the Germans are not stupid, so unless they're being blackmailed by the US, which is possible, there has to be other issues...like maybe historical enmity and memories. Merkel did say that Putin lied to her, unless she confused his amiability and diplomacy as a desire to be 'accepted' by the West? Or was she misreading Obama's intent towards Russia, and believed he had no intentions of confining and controlling Russia? It's actually that Russia is behaving like a total dick to European countries that is bothering us. Surely anyone would understand that threatening to invade, nuke, and bomb your nieghbors isn't great for friendly relations? Russians aren't THAT stupid are they?
