As for Germany, yes, most Germans today are proud of their country, but they are not as obnoxious about it as some Americans are. The term "Patriots" today is a word to achieve a means to an end and it is used to degrade and dehumanize anyone different from them. Historically, all Americans born here or naturalized are "Patriots" regards of where they are from or their political idealogy.
