What’s behind educational divide in GOP White House race

It's been apparent that Trump gets most of his support from ignorant people and now the statistics are in and they confirm the trend.
Among voters, Trump gets his votes from the most poorly educated. It's not primarily about political persuasion but about intelligence and there are a lot of poorly educated dems as well as cons.
The big question now is whether there are enough poorly educated people in the US to hand Trump the presidency.

what goes into "poorly educated" how is it determined?

Using that determination would bill gates and mark zuckerburg qualify as poorly educated?

Is it poorly educated to refuse to take student loans you may not be able to pay off for the rest of your life?

i hate this universal loathing of the poorly educated. If you are asking people to put of work. To take student loans that garnish their wages for the rest of their life. To ask grandparents to risk their social security checks to cosign for your loans. Then yes it is perfectly reasonable and valid for one to not go to college and enter the workforce.

At heart I think this is the liberal argument yet again. I will say I am for freedom of speech, gender, anything else but I will shame you into doing things my way and repress you if you try and do anything different. I even see some malice in this as plenty of these educational institutions are run by liberals and you then take their view points as gospel as other view points are blocked by "safe spaces" and "trigger warnings"

All "poorly educated" means is you made the life choice not to enter college and take on massive financial burdens and instead went on to work. It does not mean you are dumber than any college bred idiot.

There is a correlation between those who support Trump and those who think creationism is science or who think that climate change is a commie plot.

 

Trumpf support is based on an emotional reaction to TRUMPF telling the sheeple what they want to hear. Though it is true that people who are not too bright usually do lack education just by virtue of the fact that they just can't complete the intellect required to complete education. Yet that does not mean that everyone who is poorly educated is not intelligent. I know/knew people who are not educated because of various reasons who are intelligent, have good common sense and have what is sometimes called "native"intelligence.

The most ardent of the Trumpf supporters are those who because of the economic conditions they find themselves in Trumpf give them hope of a better day. This is a false hope but is the only hope that they are being enticed with.

Trumpf also gives them an excuse as to why they are not successful and are in the economic gutter. he gives them immigrants, illegal immigrants, Mexicans, Muslims, and Washington "insiders" as the boogey men who stole their country and their wealth and security away from them. They eat up the lie that Trumpf will make America great again.

Trumpf is like Putin !! Putin is popular with Russians because Vlado gives Russians the hope that he will make Russia "great" again. He feeds the lies that their problems are caused by the West, by Ukrainians, by bankers, by foreigners, and by Obama. Putin has convinced the Russian sheep that he will restore their empire again. They see the Putin pig as a reincarnation of the czars of old, of the emperors, of that strong man like Stalin who will murder their enemies for them

Poorly educated means poorly educated. Seems very straightforward. And the evdence is inarguable that on average less education results in less earning potential and a lower standard of living. Nothing wrong with making that choice if it is done thoughtfully.

Less educated folks are also more likely to vote on emotions, as the liberals are often accused of doing. When you are a candidate who gives people a scapegoat to blame for you and your country's problems, you sound like you know what you're talking about and you're also giving people something to focus their unhappiness on. That occurs from both sides of the political aisle in this country, whether it's the poor being blamed by the right or the rich being blamed by the left. Education, especially critical thinking skills, are essential to help a person weed out the bullcrap. That's important because sometimes the people telling you this is so-and-so's fault are right, but you need to be able to figure out why that is instead of just relying on somebody else telling you when you have no idea why yourself.

That's why Trump has so much support, although it looks like he overstepped recently when he tried to add women to the list of evils instead of just Muslims, immigrants, and lefties.

 

Actually no. Many of the trade policies have helped poorly educated persons by keeping costs down. Their choices to work, in whatever field, only shows that choice they have made, nothing more. Illegal immigration has not affected them at all. The reason why they go with Trump is that Trump is making statements that they agree with, no more even though that every piece of evidence is not factually based with those statements. We can take Trump's statement about the economy, about Mexico, about China, Japan, or South Korea and those who are poorly educated cling to this because of Trump's personality, nothing more.

And you are only fooling yourself. I've watched my industry change over the last 10 years. Many of the jobs needing little education but pay well are now done by illegals. 200+ jobs in my small city used to be done by Americans are now done by illegals. They are middle class paying jobs that Americans were happy to do. It's the same across many industries around here.

The poor don't see it as trade keeping prices down they see it as trade keeping their income down. They see it as trade shipping jobs overseas. Just talk to a few of them and find out.

You don't have to Russia to find an equal to Trump, there is one in the Whitehouse. Obama was a similar type candidate. They are both showman who speak in generalizations, they have the cult of personality and people are emotionally attached to them.

 

i need to ask you this. If you know that these jobs are being done by illegals, that means the companies hiring them know that they are illegal, why isn't ICE down the company's throats demanding to see the completed I-9's that are required to be done proving that someone can legally work here ?

If you know that illegals are working in your town why have you not contacted the authorities? If you did and they did nothing why have you not contacted your Congressman ? If he/she did nothing why have you not contacted your Senators ?

if you did all of the and failed why have you not gotten a hold of your local news media and have them report the story of all of these illegals working in your town ?

if you claim that the illegals are being protected by an executive order then get a FOI and ask for a copy. Executive orders are a matter of public record and are made disclosable via FOI if you get resistance.

Or are you sitting back and just complaining and think that Our.Dear.Leader TRumpfosity will take of your illegals ?

 

ICE doesn't go after these guys, they are low priority. Or haven't you been keeping up with current events? Yes I did contact them an a few occasions and nothing came of it.

I've contacted my elected officials and always get a great little thank you for your comments letter in return. But they never do anything.

An illegal took another job Americans are willing to do is an everyday occurrence, the local media doesn't care.

I don't think Trump will be able to do a damn thing about it. The establishment will still be there doing what it does, looking out for itself and enriching its members. Why is always one or the other with partisan hacks?
