This is a confounding problem confronting every struggling average American citizen. Trying to raise a family, paying ever surmounting bills, and keeping his or her head above water is an endless daily struggle. Moreover, our “Inalienable Rights” are slowly but surely being insidiously taken away!

What’s wrong with the United States of America? Simply put, it’s the citizens themselves! Their actions and lack thereof are slowly causing the decay of their freedom and their democratic way of life. “Let us wake up!”
Just review the Presidents who were put into office (two VP’s were put in by default) after the tragic assassination of John F. Kennedy:

    1. “Philanthropic “L.B. Johnson— A misguided do-gooder for the Commoners but got the U.S. ensnarled in the Far East in the name of Democracy. The French were in that area for at least a century and got nowhere. Who decided that we could bring peace into the area in short order?

    2. “Tricky” Dick Nixon— Thought he was above the LAW. His most famous declaration was “Let me make it perfectly clear”. He made it so clear that he had to resign to avoid being impeached!

    3. “Stumbling” G. Ford— His only accomplishment was to exonerate Nixon of his misdeeds.

    4. “Peanut Vender” J. Carter— Tried to put the U.S. on a positive course but succumbed to an ill-conceived escapade to rescue hostage Americans in the forlorn Middle East. To his credit, and to his demise, Carter shouldered the brunt of the blame and no credit for the effort.

    5. “Two BIT Actor” R. Reagan— He had to give up acting because he could only remember one line; the most famous being—“There they go again” referring to the floundering Democrats. His Irish smile and laid-back demeanor propelled him to a second term.

    6. G. Bush “The First”— Came into office on Reagan’s coattaills. His claim to “fame” was appeasing his petroleum cronies by invading Kuwait to wrest governing from one despot to give it back to the original despot. He spent millions of dollars, had many American Forces killed, maimed, and come home with un-detected illnesses. For this, the United States of America got Zero-Nil-Nothing. Probably not even a thank you or a tankful of gasoline.

    7. “Philandering” Bill Clinton— He was fortunate enough to overcome his escapades. However, with proper guidance, avoided wars, and brought fiscal responsibility back to our country. For this he was awarded a second term. His Trade Agreements, unfortunately became a thorn in our side and a detriment to our Commerce.

    8. “Gun Toting-Reckless” G. Bush “The Second”¬— As if Bush “The First” wasn’t enough punishment for the American Citizens. Unfortunate and disastrous for our country, he was propped into office by the U.S. Supreme Court and not the American Voters. Hell-bent on outdoing Bush “The First”, Bush “The Second” and his cronies concocted stories of Iraq’s weapons of mass destruction (non-existing) as being an immediate threat to the United States. Iraq warred with neighboring Iran and got nowhere (doing us a favor); so how could it be an immediate threat? This, no doubt, is the political scheme, plot and deception of the century. Iraq was invaded, billions of dollars squandered, thousands of troops killed, maimed and traumatized. Here again America got nothing but debt and grief. Now, some 10 years later, death and destruction are still going on.

Under the guise of Homeland Security (from the 9/11/01 destruction of New York’s Twin Towers by some 20 Saudi Arabians), the People gave Bush “The Second” another 4 years to carry out his recklessness and destruction of the American economy. He invades Afghanistan where Bin Laden (A Saudi), the mastermind of the 9/11/01 attack, was holed up. Afghanistan, a country of treacherous mountains, could not be conquered by Russia bordering it. Who thought that we could accomplish such a senseless task? Didn’t we learn anything from the Vietnam debacle? Sending an Army of thousands to ferret out one man and maybe 1000 cohorts is irrational. More Americans killed, and billions of dollars went for naught.

Bush “The Second’s” legacy: The U.S. deeply in debt that threatens America’s solvency and existence as a viable country.

    9. Glib—Silver Tounged B. Obama— Promised change, change, change! All the average citizen got was a few cents change in his or her pocket if lucky. Change isn’t the keeping Bush “The Second” people in the new administration. What happened to creating jobs, closing Guantanamo, getting rid of the Bush Tax Cuts, bringing all of our Troops home, stopping the wasteful spending, etc, etc, etc: as with New Year resolutions, promised but not kept. Obama had two years with a Democratic Congress to pass everything promised and failed miserably. Instead, he spent the time conjuring up a convoluted some 2,000 pages of Obamacare. Does it take 2,000 pages to tell individuals without health insurance how to get it? Procrastination has been Obama’s motto. To give him some credit, Bin Laden was captured and killed during his administration by our military’s elite. It took a group of some 30 to 40 well honed personnel to execute such a daring escapade; not an Army of Thousands! After all is said and done, President Obama is actually an Elephant stuffed into a Donkey’s suit!

Why is our government giving away billions of borrowed money foreign countries and at the same time telling its citizens that their Social Security checks and medical benefits be reduced? If this country is truly a Government of the People, by the People and for the People (as the Founding Fathers said it to be), then the People of the United States of America come First. No money should be given away to foreign entities, corporations, private interests, etc, until the needs of the American people are met!
Why do those individuals seeking Public Office spend millions of dollars for a $300,000 position? There is an ulterior motive that is not in the best interests of those poor Voters who elected them. Need any more be said? Why re-elect those politicians who caused the Financial Mess that our country is immersed in. American citizens must seriously contemplate voting for any John Doe who doesn’t give you a broad smile, shake hands, tell you what a great person he or she is, and doesn’t shower you with signs, ads, flyers and give-aways. Your neighbor may very well be the best choice!

What to do about our Trillions of Dollars of indebtedness—consider starting with the “Buck stops here” approach. If our President, Congressmen, and Congresswomen, have any Chutzpah at all, they will do the following:

    1. Slash Congressional Salaries and Benefits by 50%. They are greatly over-paid for the little time spent in Washington and actually working.

    2. End the idiotic wars that our country is embroiled in. Bring All our Troops home to protect our own borders here that are being infiltrated daily by thousands of illegal immigrants (many being the unsavory type).

    3. Stop all monies to foreign countries and private entities until the National Budget is balanced and on a sound footing.

    4. Put all the funds collected for Social Security and Medicare in a separate Trust Fund not co-mingled with General Funds. Repay all the I.O.U. money taken from the Social Security Fund.

    5. Stop raising the Debt Limit. If our Government can’t pay back the money already it owes, how can it pay the increase in indebtedness?

If the above measures don’t balance the budget, then no other manipulative schemes will. Stern measures are needed to be executed. Playing Russian Roulette with the Welfare and Common Good of the American people as Congress has done for the past 50 years, will only bring down the demise of our country as we know it today.

All the info you describe is great for case studies of what is wrong with a person. But on a larger scale, you can look at the ignorance of the masses of american people. You can look at the massive costly failure of the public school system, the massive spending on wars for profit, the fleecing of taxpayer money, and other larger events that impact you life more than just one man or woman. Most of what the masses get is the back end feed of the political BS propaganda machine called th broadcast media. If you go beyond vingetts of their talking head sound bites you will see there is more to it than their censors and editors will allow you to see. In other words look at macro events and understand why events take place. After all, policy makers do not make news or policy without someone paying for it and without someone benifiting from it.

Follow the money train and see where it leads you. Often you will uncover the truth and the results of why things happen. Don't expect the media to tell you all of what goes on and why it happened.

I will opine that most Americans are complacent with the status quo.
