As the prime minister for all Australians, Mr Turnbull said he also saw himself as the prime minister for indigenous Australians. He plans to speak with Indigenous Affairs Minister Nigel Scullion, born 4 May 1956 in London England, about the best way to engage with indigenous communities.

'I'm very committed to the outcomes, it's just a question of how I can best achieve them,' he said., but would not reveal what those outcomes are to be.

Next he intends to enrol in Nigel's boomerang throwing class, before learning how to craft a didgeridoo.

Good luck Malcolm trying to engage and negotiate with 500 independent Aboriginal tribes within Australia.

Before the arrival of British colonisers in 1788, There were over 500 different clan groups or 'nations' around the continent, many with distinctive cultures, beliefs and languages.

Today, Indigenous people make up 2.4 per cent of the total Australian population (about 460,000 out of 22 million people).

I agree. The map is an indication of the separate independent Aboriginal tribes Australian Governments are forced to negotiate with on a regular basis. Under these circumstances, how could anyone deem it reasonable for any positive outcomes to occur, when having to deal with such a diverse quantity of people? The Federal Government has constant problems negotiating and dealing with six States and one Territory, so you could can imagine the difficulty in having to negotiate and deal with such a large number of independent Aboriginal tribes as listed on the map.

If the Aboriginal people are all broken up into separate independent tribal nations, then I would like to know which one of these tribes considers themselves to be the ancestors of the First Australians?

The map is something one bloke thought up and is useless as balls on a pope, that is why it must not be used where correct material is required!

"not suitable for use in native title and other land claims"

    1) that is a language map - not a tribal map
    2) there are no longer 500 different clans
    3) anything would be better than the 'ignore them and hope the problem goes away' attitude seen now
