Sort of. I'm in a 60's British blues boom sort of mood. You can't go wrong with American blues played heavy.

 

Boo, after finding the above, I take it all back about the white boots.

 

So many of the really great American folk artists got noticed in Britain long before they really caught on in the U.S., as if the tail wagged the dog or some weird version thereto. Here's a knockout cover by Long John Baldry of the Willie Dixon classic, "Insane Asylum." It's among my favorite examples of what you just said.

Another early hit that bounced back and forth across the Pond had the Great Depression in mind. Here's the original.
