The role of government is often debated. But what exactly is "government" or "the state"? What makes government different than other institutions? I believe Franz Oppenheimer puts it best. He then defiens the state as "the Organization of the Political Means. Thoughts?
Beyond protecting individual liberties, they are people hired to carry weapons and the threat of incarceration to lie, cheat, and steal.
sanctioned criminals in the name of "good" and "people". government is force, the corporation is "state" the mob operating on inidviduals stealing rights under the pretense they "originate" from the constitution. unfortunately 99.9% of americans are clueless to the fact that "rights" do not originate from a worthless piece of paper.
In reality, a government is simply a group of people who have the power to create and enforce laws over a specified area. They have this power because people give them this power. Either by voting them in or by protecting them. As in the Government can't arrest you. A real human being has to actually capture you and put you in a prison cell. It's simply a hierarchical structure for organization just like a business, a gang, a household, military, etc. The problem people have is they talk about Government's like they are alien's. That they are all the same and it's a battle between the people vs the Government. But the funny thing is, if people win this battle against the Government, they simply create a new Government.
