Why must they put on this show that they are just like everybody else??

Michael Moore claims he isn't in the top 1%.

Rush Limbaugh says he is an average American at over $30,000.00 annual salary, while bashing anyone who would listen to a celebrity, when he is one himself.

Most of the teleprompter reading celebrities on TV claim to be average Americans, making multi million dollar salaries.

And now Mitt Romney a man known for eliminating jobs in his company (who is actually worth about $250 million dollars) claims federal employees make more than he does, when the government clearly says that federal employees make less than 23% than the private sector employees.

What is it with the blatant lying and exaggerating to fit in? Your rich, deal with it. Don't be ashamed unless you are like most rich people who didn't earn their status or deserve the riches life has rewarded them with.

Thread not worth a response unless the participants define what it is to be wealthy.

If we know that a certain AMOUNT of money actually sways the decisions of politicians (and we do know that), then the most practical definition of those who are "wealthy" (in my view) are those who seek and manage to directly affect public policy, by the financial investments they make within the political system. If you personally employ a FULL TIME LOBBYIST or an office full of the same, you're wealthy.

We can START at that level, and work our way down. If corporations are "people", then those are the wealthy "people" I'm talking about.

And within the context of the above... I'd say that not ALL of the Top 1% are a problem. The NEW laws frankly PROPELLED by the OWS movement in the near future, WILL ultimately separate the wheat from the chaff.

I disagree with the notion that Corporations are people.

Well, Michael Moore is a professional liar. He literally distorts the truth for a living. And the fact that he makes millions doing it while trying to pretend he's one of the poor folk only makes the colossal lie that is his life that much more hilarious. He honestly thinks wearing a dirty hat makes him working class.

But you raise a good point. Why don't rich people just own it like rap stars? I would. Own it and stop apologizing for it. The haters are going to hate you anyway. They are terminally miserable. Stand proud and be rich.

Hey, I'm going there, because the USSC went there directly.

In essence I agree with you, but by legal definition... in the political sense they are "people".

Actually I disagree. But I think you HAVE just described the present Republican Party quite well.

I refuse to be bound by something which doesn't make sense, no matter who claims it does.

This statistic seems to come from a book called The Millionaire Next Door, but nobody seems to know where the writer got this idea. Do you know?

Such an overly manipulated intellectually dishonest statistic it isn't even funny that people like you declare it a truth or a reality. A millionaire doesn't even mean someone who has a million dollars, or that they could even sale everything they are valued at and even accumulate a million dollars. A millionaire by today's standards, wouldn't even be a 100 thousand-aire by standards 20-30 years ago.

IOW they are not rich by an stretch of the imagination, and a "millionaire" in the sense of being defined as rich is your grandparents, possibly even your great grand parents terminology. Using an antiquated term to distort reality is extremely dishonest of you.

Statistical propaganda seems to encourage ignorance.

The definition of rich is he/she who turns their nose up at you for not having achieved what they believe they have achieved, or by the means in which they achieved it.

Wealth is a state of mind, much like the word poverty, has extremely broad defining factors which can and should be taken into account.

For the sake of argument wealth in this country can be defined as a specific dollar amount, but has more to do with influence/power, and the ability to manipulate government officials into addressing the needs of specific class of individuals of which you are a part of, first and foremost, while ignoring the best interests of the nation, or the majority of the population as a whole.

Did they earn their money through long term investments and savings?? Then I guess according to your own definition, they didn't. Luck, charisma, genetics, and being in the right place at the right time, probably had more to do with it than actual talent, work ethics, or a measurable amount of actual work.

Yet these people make up the largest majority of the uber rich. What about those involved with criminal activities, or those who have cheated the system due to unethical immoral acts that may or may not be illegal, technically? Sounds like that when you are actually talking about the rich/elites who make up the influential class, that 80% number get’s flipped around awfully fast.

Now can we talk reality or do you have some more dishonest statistics you would like to toss around?

Funny you only have problems with the rich Republicans. How about the rich Democrats, like Soros? One of the hated men in England and Asia for his business dealings. His millions he uses to promote Liberal causes?

How about the very rich in Congress?

237 millionaires in congress and apparently they are not all Republicans as 4 of top 5 are Democrats and the top 2 are from the liberal state of California with no Texans in top 5

"A new report by the Center for Responsive Politics says there are 237 millionaires serving in the House and Senate. That's 44 percent of all lawmakers on Capitol Hill.

The richest member is Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif. His net worth exceeds $250 million.

Issa is followed in wealth by four Democrats. Rep. Jane Harman, D-Calif. has $245 million. Rep. Herb Kohl,, D-Wis. at $215 million.

Sen. Mark Warner, D-Va. at $210 million and Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass. at about $209 million."

    Michael Moore republican??

Every teleprompter reader on TV, republican??

Funny how you blind partisanship will not allow you to see the obvious, and attack without thinking. Bias much??

My problem isn’t a problem at all, simply an observation. As far a Soros, Gates, etc… is concerned, do they claim to be average Americans, that understand what it like to get by in this country today? If so include them if you wish, I pointed out the few I have noticed recently.

Rich/elites control both parties, the media and the best government corporate money can buy, and this is the reality of the situation. To deny this is to support the delusional propaganda they use to eliminate any critical thinking (which evidently seems to be working on you) on the matters effecting this country as a whole.
