Is the future America supposed to be some neo-fascist, crony corporatist, police state, driven by a Marxist world-view that completely lacks a national culture, language or ethnic majority? Are we just going to be a bunch of tax-slaves for some soulless system straight out of a science fiction novel?

What is the purpose of America now and moving forward into the 21st century?

In the 20th century we saw many nations and ideologies rise with a certain dream and purpose as their engine, from Imperial Japan, National Socialist Germany, Fascist Italy, the Soviet Union, the United States of America, etc. Behind each one was a calling, whether you agree with it or not.

Thomas Jefferson, Vladimir Lenin, and Adolf Hitler all represent a vision and goal for the world.

I having a difficult time identifying what ours now is.

We're a diverse society, as I understand it, because we value individual liberty, but because we all realize individual liberty is a dying concept, what is the benefit of a diverse society? Are the ravages of American diversity purely for the sake of diversity? What is the purpose of this religion we call multiculturalism? What is its end?
What is the purpose of diversity without individual liberty? I have my answer for this, and have for a long time, but what could possibly be yours?
At one time we referred to "multiculturalism" to define the fact that we had minority groups. Now we're told and instructed we "need more multiculturalism."

Does that make sense at face value?

Our purpose is no longer the cause of freedom, or at least that would be hard to argue while a TSA agent strip searches you, just before checking your email on an iphone, which is information farmed by the authorities, who just passed the NDAA and are militarizing the police.

We crush small businesses and the Middle class with a tax burden and allow GE to pay nothing, and claim to believe in free markets while politicians do favors for each others family members in the form of rigged business deals, and we bail out institutions `to big to fail.` We privatize the profits of the elite, but we socialize their losses.

Do we have any purpose and idealism founded in truth and reality or is this just what it looks like when a nation is being completely ripped off and eaten alive a few decades before it collapses?

Meanwhile, I'm listening to people like John McCain work to get us involved in more Middle Eastern wars.

Are we completely subservient to the nation of Israel? Is this essentially our only tangible purpose now? Zionism? Completely wreck our nation domestically, create a white minority, and slavishly fight the wars and battles of a foreign power and its national security interests? These are the only three goals I see that look to be more real than rhetoric.

We seem to have developed some serious national and philosophical contradictions, in the last 12 years especially. We're more a nihilistic-nation now than we've ever been.
I look at our current state and see nothing but a vessel for spreading destruction and misery.

We can probably say this represents the beginning of a golden age in Western civilization. That's what one I imagine looks like.

If you look closely, you'll see not one person is shot over a George Zimmerman verdict.

What is the purpose of America?

What's the purpose of anything, really? Sometimes it's just nice to take a step back and enjoy it without trying to force upon a purpose.

I believe it to be the former. Based on my understanding of the scriptures, I believe The United States of America could be the final incarnation of "Mystery Babylon" as mentioned in the Book of Revelation. Basically, through our nation comes the Antichrist. There is supposed to be great deception in the end times and the Antichrist will sit in the temple and declare himself to be god. Well, people like you and I can see the deception, so who knows what the second part means. Building the third Temple of Soloman and the desecration of it? Well, a prominent Israeli political party wants to rebuild it. I'm not telling you to believe what I believe, I just pay attention you know? Maybe extreme but I don't care. Thoughts?

"What is the purpose of America?"

To waste nonrenewable resources, erode the global ecosystem, destabilize international relations, and provide an endless parade of religious nuttiness to entertain the rest of the world.

Although you do make some reasonable statements you started your post with nonsense

This is in line with "Obama is a muslim atheist , wall street loving communist" , good for stand up comedy only.

Anymore America serves as a warning to other nations of what not to do.

America needs a Populist movement with nationalistic overtones. Congress
will not and cannot correct growing problems. Look at the idiots talking about
bringing illegal aliens into the work force. That action is dictated by politics
as it violates the rational process.

To police the world first and itself last.

Some people stand by and neutrally watch genocides unfold. Some people can't help to get involved. In the meantime, enjoy our coattails. Less of a percentage of people die in war now that America is superpower then at any other time in human history.

I thought the point of America was to stop the states going to war with each other again. I fear it's taken it's eye off the ball.
