    I think it's deplorable, but unsurprising. Christians (in general, there are exceptions) forsook their Biblical mandate to gain political power starting with Constantine. Ironically, they are going down the same route the Pharisees of Jesus' day and the Islamists of today are going down.

    History repeats itself, and nothing lasts forever.
