What sorts of white wine do you like?

 

The only one I've tried was chardonnay, I liked it.

 

I love sweet white German wines from a Riesling Spatlese to a seriously sweet Auslese. I have a few hidden away including a Beeren Auslese (especially good). I even have a few Eisweins (when the grapes froze... very rare and great). Red wines generally give me heartburn.

 

Not a huge fan of still white wine, much prefer red and sparkling. But I do like oaked Chardonnay (not a fan of the unoaked trend), Viognier, Gewurztraminer for spicier foods, desert Riesling wines from Germany, Sauternes, some great Burgundies, and for less pretentious fare, Loire valley. For me, Pinot Grigio is usually very weak and mediocre. Portuguese Vinho Verde (which is white, not green) is another one I like for certain purposes such as salty codfish dishes (bacalhau).

 

None. Can't stand the stuff. Tastes like a cross between lawn clippings and squashed ants.

Strictly red for me - and the ocassional beer.

 

Sweet wine! Quite the acquired taste

I like my wine as brutal as possible. For me, wine is in the same family as other delicacies - it needs to be STRONG. Chocolate should be dark and bitter, cheese should be aged and bitey, and coffee should be very robust (no sugar, ever).

 

I am a follower of this motto: ABC = Anything but Chardonnay.

 

I like some sorts of white wine.

Most of them: Gewürztraminer

 

With regard to wine culture I'm a Luddite.

As far as white wine skill that's the only one I've ever tasted so it can be terrible or it can be great I don't know I've never had anything else. But if I could get a bottle for $8 I would buy it again.

 

Not a white wine fan...but I did enjoy my daughter's Sake.

And I thought that Americans also drink wine.

It's weird, huh. It's not like Americans don't drink .. but they seem to be oblivious to wine. One wonders what they're actually drinking when it's not beer!

- pinot grigio,;
- pino gris ;
- (& recency) the odd riesling.

Mostly mid tier stuff price range wise with choice guided by the meal.

Really? We have two of the best wine regions in the world, Napa and Sonoma, not to forget Washington State, Oregon, and many smaller ones, and you think we don't drink wine?

You couldn't be more mistaken. Just a simple Google search pulls up this article from 2016, when we drank 4.24 billion bottles.

Even if you think in per-capita terms, since we have 4% of the World's population and we're consuming 13% of the world's wine, you are obviously mistaken.

Now, considering not all men and women (and no children or newborns) drink wine, we have to assume some people are holding up their end of the wine drinking more than others."

Have you ever been to Napa and Sonoma? They rival in quality any wine region in the world, including Bordeaux and Bourgogne.
I'm American, I love wine, and so do many of my fellow citizens.

See that 63 American restaurants won the Grand Award, out of 97 in the entire world. We have two thirds of the best wine programs in restaurants in the world.

I know all this.
And I know and value US-wine.

What I miss is the talking about the wine.

I much prefer the type of white wine that comes in Busch beer flavor...

Now don't get me wrong I'll drink what the sign says beer wine and liquor....

But I'm just a common sort of man who drives a common van lives in a common domicile and has a common dog and I drink common beer
