The election is over. We can now stop campaigning for a while, and just observe... Hillary and Barack have left the scene. We can stop obsessing about them. The only real subject for the next few years will be Mr Trump and his people. How shall we talk about the Trump administration? I suggest that we NOT evaluate the performance of the new administration exclusively in comparison with the Obama administration. That yardstick is itself too subject to debate. We should try to find as many objective criteria as possible. For example, we know the economic situation in statistical detail. Unless Mr Trump changes the traditional methods for calculating these indicators, as he has indicated he might, it won't be hard to evaluate the administration's performance. Even if he makes those changes, economists will try to "translate", in order to preserve historical references. Likewise, we have pretty extensive numbers for health-care, immigration, crime, ... For most topics, the data exists since Reagan, at least, giving us the possibility of rising above immediate squbbles. It's up to us to want to do so. Of course... There are also "events" that cannot be treated statistically. For example, just about anything could happen in the Middle East. For these, may I suggest that we try to step back a few paces in order to get some context? History? We all must hope that the Trump administration does a good job. We need means for evaluating its performance.
Saying "Hillary was worse!" is pointless. Such a comment requires agreement about Hillary, before any possible comparison between the two. From what I see, such agreement is... unlikely. And probably a waste of time.
Most assuredly Obama has not left the scene. He even hired Valerie Jarrett (??) to live in his HQ mansion to coordinate the trash Trump efforts.
