Before you go shooting Arianna, you should note who conducted the poll. All in all, it appears that conservatives are on quite a roll these days.

It's because the Left has been indoctrinating their I Hate America bullcr@p into the schools for the past three generations.

If that was the case, conservatism would have been reversed two generations ago. But I suppose you have to blame the shift on everything but your own failed 'values' and ideas.

I do HATE AMERICA, I don't hate the America I grew up in-that was a heluva great country, I just hate the GARBAGE America that Reagan turned it into.

So not quite the 51 to 20 advantage that conservatives had over full liberals as recently as last year. Kind of early to mark this as a trend though, isn't it? You need at least 2 points on a graph to draw a line.

I think that the term "Conservative" is going the same way as the word "Liberal."

Liberals now prefer the term "Progressive" as in moving things forward. Conservatives are more "Traditionalists" as believing in many of the things that this nation was founded on have good reasons.

I consider myself to be 95% Traditionalist and 5% Progressive in my thinking. The orig docs that this country was founded on included "all men are created equal" and the right of its citizens to "life, liberty, & the pursuit of happiness," have and are being updated as slavery is no longer allowed and gay citizens have a civil right to marriage which is a legal compact as is the separation of or divorce. JP weddings are allowed and church marriages are up to the particular freedom of religion tenets. And, certain abortions are accepted in saving the life of the mother or also possibly if incest, rape, etc.

And so many 'old time' Conservatives are heeding and adhering more to the Constitutional intentions & thought and away from a hard core ideology. They are becoming more earnest in their belief system whereas Progressives are going in the opposite direction!

As in Progressive causes are so 'noble' that they practice "the ends justifies the means" in their behaviors which allows disingenuous actions and hypocrisy throughout their ranks and actions! They practice 'political Sharia Law' (ala Saul Alinsky methods) with intolerance and thug antics in accomplishing their 'Utopian faith.'

A drop from 57% in 2009 to 42% in 2015 is pretty dramatic. This is just in the republic party!

I couldn't find one that spans to 2015 but look at this
    [IMG]

The republican base is small and shrinking which would leave one to conclude that the base is too extreme.

The terms might be changing but (whatever they wish to call themselves) only the conservative philosophy is falling out of favor.

According to the same graph, liberals experienced a 50% drop between 2007 and 2008, from 26% to 13%. Conservatives would need to see a drop from 57 to 28 to experience the same "dramatic" decline, and even then, they'd still be larger than the high water mark set by "liberals".

Yes in the republican party but have been on an upward tick since as conservatism has been declining in the republican party. Seeing the republican party uptick liberal during a democratic presidency is interesting indeed.

The U.S. non-tax paying entitlement society wants the liberal's freebies rather than having to work for them which is an inherent 'Conservative' tenet of individual responsibility.

We are at the place warned about many years ago by 18th century Professor Alexander Fraser Tytler:

You mean things like adhering to the Constitution, protecting the family unit and unborn children, respecting authority rather than questioning or fighting it at every turn?

So that whole talking point about how Republicans are responsible for polarizing the country is pretty dead according to those polls. The Republican Party is becoming more liberal, while the Democrat Party has become a lot more liberal.

I think the fact that a self identified socialist is caucausing with the Democrats is a fair indication of that, too.

You spout constitutional rhetoric and then follow up with this. Do you have any idea how this country was founded? Our forefathers were open about the need of the people to resist an authoritarian government. This lay down and take it crap has no place in our history.

Agreed. If you draw trendlines through those graphs, they would be virtually flat.

Excuse me, but up until the chaos of the 1960s, police were people not to be toyed with.

If conservatives wanted elected officials to make promises they don't keep after being elected they'd vote for Democrats.

Here you go wiping your ass with the constitution on a public forum by spouting more authoritarianism.

Without law & order we get the chaos that had been prevalent in Baltimore, but I bet you supported those criminals, typical of the Leftist mindset.
