He'd probably only get one term.

C'mon, now; how much damage could he do in four years?

I'd agree but it's not just Trump. Throw the mad hatter Putin into that mix with the US and Russia already at the brink and boom. And I mean the glow in the dark boom.

Well, add the fact that we also have both houses of Congress in GOP control, and they have been hard at work gerrymandering to make sure they keep control of the House, and have been hard at work blaming all of the problems that their obstructionism has caused on the Democrats, and the Democrats have done nothing to counter the smear campaign, the GOP will likely control Congress and the White House if Trump is elected, and that means the far rights nutjobs that run the GOP, like McConnell (the guy who told his party to destroy America so they could blame it on Obama going into 2012), there would probably be several changes,

    such as

1; Immediate social security, medicare, medicade, and welfare cuts
2; Multi-Billion dollar tax cuts for the richest 1%, followed by tax hikes for the poor and working class (just like under Reagan, and both Bushes.
3; Obamacare repealed, and no replacement reform bill passed. We will go back to the system that allowed patients to be dropped from insurance because their great grandfather died of cancer, and insurance companies could refuse to pay out on a claim for no reason. (This is what the far right wants)
4; Cuts to education (The far right wants the people uneducated, unless they attend far right Christian schools like Liberty "University".
5; Illegal Mexicans deported by the millions, and the price of fruit going up by a few dollars because the people who now pick it will not work for the pennies that illegals did.
6; ISIS grows by thousands because the refugees fleeing the Assad regime in Syria have no choice but to turn to them for protection once the US stops taking them in.

That's of course assuming it actually does in fact go up. Which it probably won't. People want jobs, and they want jobs in relative proximity. The Americans who are near the farms will do the farming. Loosen farming regulations and you'll be able to more than makeup for the loss of illegals.

Illegals is the 21st century slavery question, and if the Liberals don't want to be hypocrites they need to reject Illegal Immigrants like they rejected Slavery back in the Civil War.

He could do a lot of damage. Bush 43 broke new ground in presidential power, obama expanded it even further with his "i have a pen". The President is almost a dictator. The next President no matter who it is could do a lot of damage.

There is also the ideological balance of the Supreme Court to consider for it is very, very likely that the next POTUS will be nominating 1, 2 or maybe even 3 Supreme Court justices.

There is also the issue of Obamacare.

If illegals are the 21st Century Slavery Question, then Conservatives are on the side saying "send them all back to Africa, even the ones that were born here".

That was also Honest Abe's position(Hint: Liberia was founded as a US Protectorate in effect for Africa.). Not surprisingly though, the Africans chose to stay in the United States.

The difference is that the United States did not have a policy of importing illegals, but rather passively ignoring illegal activity. While the Illegals might want to gripe about the US becoming(wisely) more protectionist, they have no legal or moral ground to stand on. They didn't come here legally, they aren't citizens and are a burden on the US taxpayer.

Even if that's "balanced" out via cheap labor(and it's not over the long run with the loss of US employment).

Think of how much damage George W Bush did in one term.

He turned budget surpluses into big deficits.

He started an unprovoked, unnecessary war in the wrong country and was in the process of bungling it.

He presided over a level of graft that had not been seen since Harding's presidency.

And he had actual political experience and was surrounded by conservatives with real political experience.

Trump would be at war with Congress within days of his inauguration.

And, do you really want to give a man who probably can't find Syria on a map the power to commit US forces to a war there?????

As I already pointed out many years ago, Obama's lack of working with congress and legislating with a pen has continued a precedence of the Executive branch over-reaching their authority IMO.

Trump, or whomever is the next President, can cause a LOT of damage. I would not trust ANY in the GOP and Dem field with this power.

moot question...if he gets nominated, clinton is the next president; republicans know that (the ones with power, not the imbeciles on pf) so he won't get nominated...its really that simple and all the fuss about him is just passing time for the media

Oh, come on...do you really think that Obama knows where Syria is? Now, any golf course, yes...he does have his priorities. After all, he thinks there are 57 states. LOL

LOL, you know our government has gotten so big and we have so many unelected bureaucrats running all these different agencies, departments, projects, programs, that were there before any new president arrives and will be there after the presidents leave. They pretty much set the agenda and how each agency or department runs and what they do. With our huge government, no president change ever change the direction of this country. A president can just govern around the edges of the unelected masses who work and run things in our government.

What can Trump do against our bloated mass of government. Not much. Neither can he do much for it. He can't work around the numbers. Even if the GOP keeps the House which seems very likely at this point, they seem on the way to lose the senate. Which means Democrats control what legislation is passed or not. Even if by some minor miracle the Republicans keep the senate, it still takes 60 votes for cloture.

I suppose Trump can pull an Obama and use his pen and a phone to enact legislation without congress. That precedence has been set. But overall on the domestic side of things, he can never hurt or help much at all. Now foreign policy is where Trump would have more power and control. He could get us into wars without congress as Obama set that precedence too with Libya, bypassing congress altogether. He could do away with the Iran deal, it is not a treaty and non-legally binding. It is just a agreement between Obama and Iran much like Nixon's agreement with Theiu about returning to Vietnam if the North Vietnamese had a gross violation of the Paris Peace Pact.

In the realm of foreign policy a President Trump could do quite a bit. But on the domestic side of things, his hands are tied by our huge bloated government which is run by those we do not elect.

Exactly and Trump is such an obvious idiot that all effort must be made to derail any discussion of him. His image can't survive the scrutiny.

I believe Trump has to place a high value on the contributions our immigrants bring. After all, they come here to do the unpleasant jobs that no American wants to do. His WIVES (all immigrants) prove out that truth.

If Donald Trump had been President in October of 1962, none of us would be here.
