He says he has a different political opinion but he respects your view. When I lived in Germany in 62-64, at Schweinfurt, what I saw was the west Germans worked very hard and they were prospering. And in East Berlin the place was terrible. I did see a lot of West Germany but only was in East Berlin 2 times. I did not believe as lousy as it was in the East the other cities of the Soviet ruled area were very prosperous. He may not understand how much better was West Germany than East Germany at that time.
No, it isn't possible. We know what happened there in June 1944. Germans razed the town after they rounded up and murdered the inhabitants. I've been to Oradour-sur-Glane. When you walk through the town, it looks burned out. It was used to frame a question for Sobo.
Yes, eastern Germany was really fucked up by the Russkis, though. We "Wessis" have paid and still pay lots of money to help the former GDR get on its feet. And how do they thank us? They are dirtying our country in behaving like Nazis.
Well that is not wise on their part and a good way to make enemies. I read a good book that I will show you the cover. This man lived under the Nazis and the Communists and warned America about all of this. If anybody is interested, it is a very good book. Customer Review Michael Foudy 5.0 out of 5 starsThis Book Is Important May 4, 2002 Format: HardcoverVerified Purchase Most folks won't get past the title. But, Vazsonyi's book is really, really good. Why? Well for starters, Mr. Vazsonyi has chosen to be an American. He was not born here. He didn't have to come here. He didn't have to stay. Mr. Vazsonyi is a talented musician who could live pretty much anywhere on the planet. This book explains his choice. Second, and more important, Mr. Vazsonyi does a very good job of putting what has been happening in the United States since the middle of the last century into a coherent, relevant and easily understood political perspective. He traces the American political debate back to its origens in Europe and puts what we are and have been experiencing into context. The book describes the history of our competing political worldviews and makes that history relevant. Finally, and most important, the book does a good job of pointing out what is at stake in this debate by clearly defining the worst case scenario. Mr. Vazsonyi does a great job of crafting that definition because the worst case scenario is one in which he came of age in Eastern Europe. But, Mr. Vazsonyi's English is his second language and the prospective reader should be advised that his prose isn't as slick or easy to read as that written by someone like Michael Moore. Of course the difference is that Moore is wrong and Vazsonyi is right. So, this book is worth the effort. 12 people found this helpful
You somehow believe that the french emotions to us should matter for us. I dont trust them. They should not trust us. That way nobody gets disappointed
But Gay is not a homosexual either Why derail a topic where both Americans and Germans are having a discussion?
I tried to compare that town to towns that were actually bombed out and shelled by Artillery. I know of the massacre by the way. The men were put into sheds and barns and shot to death. The women put inside a church and it was set on fire. But I do defer to a person who has actually visited that town. As you might defer to me who saw Berlin on both sides of the wall who saw a super West Berlin and compared it to the bombed out East Berlin. Tempelhof Airport showed the effect of heavy machine gun fire too. I saw plenty of actual war damage.
I recall that my then fiance told me when she visited me at Schweinfurt that the people of Schweinfurt used a way of speaking that was new to her. She pointed out that the German word for young woman in Berlin was madchen but in Schweinfurt those Germans said Madelein. At first she did not know what they were telling her.
I don't. Republicans are socially ignorant while Democrats are unable to adopt successful economic policies.
Bad things happen at wars. The french did exactly same to Germans. During 30 years war, we lost 30% of our population.
Germans were overtaken by events from 1918-1932--two depressions and hyperinflation--and succumbed to the poverty and social disorder. A cultured people paid a horrible price for embracing the Nazis. We should understand what happened to Germany could have happened to any people.
No its not. A german looks like a german. I can see a german from what he / she looks like. Show me how race and ethnicity is diluted in my state with 0.5% non german population
What forced the french to comitt massacres against germans again and again in late 17th and 18th century?
I should give you explicit details or you think I do not know things. YES I am well aware that a woman escaped the church with another woman and child and those were shot.
Ahead of Hitler invading other places, the improvements to Germany were quite large. The Germans in my opinion like him for the economics. Even though Hitler was terrible to other countries, he loved Germany and told them he did.
Trust but verify. France and Germany are the heart of the EU. Without either one, I think the EU would fall apart to the detriment of all Europeans.
