The American Left are the ones demonizing Russia these days. I am far more worried about China and their huge manufacturing base.. Myself I have always found the Russian people welcoming and charming. Very close friends of mine were missionaries in Siberia for many years and found the Russians quote nice and generous people.

 

Russian expansionism by force is unacceptable. Illegally funneling money into US elections, and waging a disinformation/misinformation war is unacceptable. Creating division in the US is unacceptable. Assassinating the political opposition is unacceptable.

Is it acceptable for an EU coup installed Ukrainian government to use force to keep Crimeans in a nation they do not want to be in, overwhelmingly?

People dispute the Russian referendum, but as far as I know no knowledgeable commentator disputes that the vast majority of Crimeans want to be in Russia, not the Ukraine, as has been shown repeatedly with reputable Western polling. The situation is not as simple as Merkel would have you believe.

I've often heard that Spanish was a good third language to learn. But then you look at countries by GDP and Spanish-speaking countries have almost no economic presence, you're far more likely to have to deal with companies/clients in Europe or Scandinavia.
