This is yet anoother of those "lets get to know each other" -threads, except this one will be evolving around the Myers Briggs personality test (MBTI). Has any of you taken it before and if so, what was your score? I've taken it a few times and my most frequent resuts are ISTJ and INTJ.

I took the test as well and I think it is safe to say it is fairly accurate.

Oh no! Not this again! I just left a board...permanently...due to them labeling, boxes, sticking on a shelf or collecting in cliques due to personality types. They took it to the extreme and it was just awful.

Yeah...there are a lot of tests out there that are flawed.

That's because PEOPLE are the one's that develop them.

I am an INTJ. I did not take the OP test. I have taken the real test....a few times...always the same. I am only slightly leaning on the E/I toward introvert but and am statistical outlying on the others I am so squarely in those camps.

 

These tests don't really give any insight to an individual. A lot of "compelled" going on too.

Seriously, it was flat out crazy over there. There are supposedly 16 different personalities and that test tells you which one you are and which "type" you are most compatible with. So, if an ABCD went into a EFGH thread, you were ignored because your compatibility is either with another ABCD or a IJKL (alphabet are examples). So I start a thread in the "general" forum, and nobody participates much, so a EFGH takes it to the EFGH forum because they don't want to post in the OPQR thread. No no. It MUST be in the EFGH forum because anyone participating is NOT within their little box, on their shelf, in the labeled closet.

It was just WEIRD. So I left.

 

I would agree with you and if someone actually ignored you just because they were stupid enough to only try to date those the test said were compatible with them why would anyone want to date anyone like that anyways??

What's sad about it is...it was not a dating site! Just a regular ol message board. But, geared for personalities. I guess I can liken it to a horoscope board. 12 signs, who is compatible to whomever, sticking to their own little clique. Start a thread in General forum which is for ALL horoscopes, was supposedly ok but the members let you know it was NOT ok and they did that by not participating. Nope. You had to hang out in the forum for your sign.

I hate boxes and labels. I joined because they had some great topics but if that topic was in a certain personality group, I'd be talking to myself. I didn't know they went to that extreme until I was there for about a week or two and that was hit and miss since I tend to wander all over the net. I guess what really got to me was a guy (youngish) started a thread asking if his ABCD girlfriend would ever be able to love him because he was a EFGH. I did have nice chats with him in that thread, but then someone else would come in and tell him how it would not work and I would be rolling my eyes so badly I would get dizzy and not see the keyboard. I think I was the only senior there although they did have a boomer board. But, nobody posted in it. I think they didn't because it was for any boomer, not just certain labeled boomers.

So this guy might be missing out on the love of his life, or she him, because their labels didn't match. And the labels came from a dumb test. What I TRIED to tell them is...after a year, or more life experience, and they take the test again, it will probably be a completely different outcome. With horoscopes, you cannot change your birthdate or birth chart. But living life and experiencing different aspects of what life shows you and how you flow with it, DOES change your outlook the longer you experience that life. Alas, they did not hear me.

I can't say I miss it over there.

 

They should call them HORRORSCOPES!! LOL!!

You know....it's really tough for a person to find another they they can even stand no less actually care for! LOL!

And the thing is those people who are so confined to their little minds and their little ideologies are people....TRUST ME...you do NOT want to date!!

Imagine you get married to one and you are ready to leave of vacation and your spouse say's...."Honey....tell the kids to unpack!! I just notices Jupiter in in conjunction with Mars which means it's too risky for us to fly today! Sure we will lose $3000 and the $4000 for the hotel but THINK OF THE CHILDREN!!" LOL!!

My type is INTP which is interesting because it does really describe me. For instance, the world is here mainly to be figured out. I never really thought about it before, but that is a fairly accurate assessment of how I feel.

ESTJ. How accurate, I don't know. I never thought of myself being Extroverted, but if it means I am orientated to the outside world, per Webster and not a show off. Then true. Sensing more than Intuitive, probably. Thinking over feelings, yep. Judging over Perceiving, I really never judge people, pretty much take them as they are and expect them to take me as I am.
