To: @AFM and @Esau -- Do both of you understand that Jewish people have been paid various kinds of 'reparations' by the Bundesrepublik Deutschland (Germany) for decades? This was because they were stripped of what they owned and literally ordered out of Nazi Germany in the 1930's. Then, after the Wannsee Conference, the Nazis decided that because they couldn't make other countries take the millions of Jewish immigrants, they started killing them in mass numbers in extermination camps!

NONE of what happened to Jewish people in Nazi Germany has anything to do with Black slavery in the United States, which ended 154 years ago, and there was no 'genocidal extermination' of Blacks anyway. Slavery ended everywhere in the civilized world in the 1800's -- it ended in England in 1833... it ended in the United States in 1865, and it ended in France in 1848.

The whole idea of 'reparations' to Blacks in the United States over 150 years after it was abolished in this country is nothing but pandering bullshit dangled by Democrats who want to keep their stranglehold on the Black vote in this country!

Afterthought -- should someone like, Barack Obama, for instance, receive one of these 'reparations' packages? His father was a subject of the British Empire (Kenya) and no one in his family was a slave in this country. Do you see how utterly rotten, corrupt, and misbegotten this whole 'reparations' thing is?!

 

I provided a link to those actions of the German post war government and the real time justification for their reparations. As you point out that has nothing to do with the politically motivated reparations meme which the far left parrots today.

And should I as a descendant of my great great grandfather who as a member of the Union Army died at Shiloh receive payments from the individuals that he died to free?

 

Seeing as how many of the Jewish people being compensated were the same individuals that were put into concentration camps and the blacks that were slaves are long since dead for multiple generations, comparing Jewish reparations to reparations for blacks is comparing apples to oranges.

What I want is for the Italian government to step up and pay ME reparations because it took my German ancestors as slaves during the Roman Empire. I mean, why not? Forty Acres and a Mule was actually a field order issued by Sherman, though you are correct that it was approved by Lincoln. It was actually implemented, but some of the land was restored to the original owners.....though several black owners did retain the land. So, I guess reparations WERE already paid already.
