I laid out my reasoning in the OP. As the DHS found, the country of origin is not a good predictor of terrorism activities and the vast majority of individuals convicted of terrorism charges (as was this guy) are American citizens.

First, that is false. Second, most terrorist attacks have been by Muslim radicals of immigrant ME parents. Finally, many are not put on trial because they are killed at the scene of the terroristic act or shortly thereafter.
