If you are dealing with the specifics, I support the proposition that any American who absconds with classified documents, lies about having them, and fails to respect the national security breech in having done so, should have them confiscated by the government, returned to where they are secure and as required by law, and any such individual should be subject to prosecution based upon credible evidence. We are a nation of laws, and no one is above it.

The refusal by Trump to reveal what he had absconded with reflected his awareness of culpability. The truth did not serve his agenda - as its revelation's suddenly causing quite a few raving Trump toadies in Congress to suddenly stop their bleating confirms. The subsequent release of that information by the authorities justified law enforcement agents recovering Trump's stash in the interests of national security - amidst the death threats targeting them by fanatical Trumers. Uncovering empty "Top Secret" folders certainly underscores the unanswered questions: "Why did he take them, and what did he intend to do with them?"
