I was born three weeks before Clinton's election in '92, so I haven't experienced much, but I was curious what president of the past five decades you guys preferred.

Personally, I'm going with Kennedy. In my eyes, there are so many things about him as a president that are extremely lacking in the more recent ones. Watching him give a speech and reading about his life leads me to believe that he really cared and loved America and wanted to see the country prosper.

Upon pain of death for not picking one, I would have to go, very reluctantly, with Reagan as the best in the last fifty years.

Hands down, Blubba was the best prezident this country has ever had, he was the best for Gays, gays who wanted to be in the military, non inhaling pot heads, draft dodgers, tree huggers, anti- hunners, baby killers, flag burners, people who feared the hole in the Ozone, anyone who wanted to sell secrets to China, anti- Christian (Waco) types, Rapists, adulterers, FBI file grabbers.. and on and on.

I think O'Bummer might have him tied or even beat on some of that though.

    Still, I vote for Reagan....

Even though, I'm sure that some - here - would say for ALL the wrong reasons.

Funny thing is Reagan couldn't even get through a GOP primary these days. Too liberal. And btw anyone who thinks he's the best of this bunch only knows him from the PR and not the real Reagan. He was walking proof that once you learn to fake sincerity you've got it made.

    Not really.

King Obama sends an Ambassador to Libya and when he's attacked he denies him air support.

JFK sent ex-patriate Cubans to the Bay of Pigs, promising them air support, and when they needed the air support, he decided not to send it.

However, JFK could say "corpsman" correctly. That places him about fifty rungs higher than Obama, and and not only are there just 44 steps on the ladder, JFK isn't ranked any higher than 35.

Clearly Reagan is one of the top three of the forty four, jostling with Lincoln for second, Washington being at the top, of course.

None of the "Progressive" Presidents are worth a (*)(*)(*)(*).

    Clinton LOVES morals.

....oh....you put an "m" in there to trick people.

He's certainly better than the rodeo clown that's in there now. No bull about it. He only broke one law.

The 'best' was or is not one (JFK the closest), because not one ever told the truth to the people. Robin Hood, Jesus Christ, Martin Luther, Ghandi, and a few others were the only few persons in history over the past two thousand years that spoke truth (they were either hated or murdered) You can almost be sure that the next US president will be like JFK, almost sounded honest, almost sounded like telling the truth and caused the moonlandings, and was assasinated. That was an historical (influenced the masses the most) president/period (and from that good period a bad period came, Korea\Vietnam, war, and the mass peace movements, this is what we will see nearing again) And all the emotion that is building up from that is causing mass organisation. So the strike on Syria will happen, because it will raise emotions. Now 'president' Putin is heading in direction of what 'president' Obama wants, a strike) Presidents are 'slaves', they (must) tell the people what is told them (by spin doctors, they are indoctrinated, they behave like robots.

Reagan's legacy, the huge national debt and his destruction of the middle class will put him down in the W area eventually.
Clinton's legacy shines that much brighter, bookended by the Bush disasters.
Kennedy was a figure for the times, and moved America's soul, like no one since.

WOW! You have certainly elevated Washington to a very high level by including him with Reagan and Lincoln. Chihuahua!

Lincoln was the first of the progressives. He usurped more constitutional power than any ten other men could usurp. WE now have another bum from Illinois in the White House, which has spoken ill for the country.

I honestly don't get JFK. He bungled the Bay of Pigs and why people seemingly give him credit for the Cuban Missile Crisis is beyond me. He only had one choice and that was to prevent Soviet nukes getting within range of Disneyworld no matter what. I mean seriously his only other option would have been... "Ok Mr. Kruschev you go ahead and put all those missiles in Cuba." It wasn't a brave decision any more than Obama's decision to send in SF to get Bin Laden, it was the ONLY option.

If he hadn't been assassinated he most likely would have gone down as an above average President but certainly not among the best.

I guess it makes sense since its the same generation that worshiped that fat, sweaty, drug addled blob, Elvis. :afro:

Your comment is a wee bit late. The bum was out in Jan 2009 - and the country is recovering nicely, after his big bungle.

I surely did not know Bush, and yes he was a bum, as well, was from Illinois.

Almost 17 Trillion Bucks in normal debt, over 100 Trillion in unfunded debt, 1 1/2 Trillion in deficits each year, a downgrade on the fiscal worthiness of the country, soon to lose the dollar as the Reserve Currency, ObamaCare soon to crap in all of our mess kits, and you consider that we are recovering nicely. I shan't insult you by asking what you are high on, but I somehow suspect it isn't an over abundance of brain cells.

Carter. I used to think it was Clinton, but ever since Reagan, it really hasn't mattered which party has held the office. Much like the early 1900s, our system since 1981 has been owned by Wall Street.

Clinton was just a watered down version of Reagan when we look at deregulation and corporatism under him.

Carter was never a very popular president, but that's largely due to the fact that Americans don't like hearing the truth. Most of Carter's speeches were sobering rather than inspiring.

Carter still made plenty of mistakes, but his life after his presidency has shown that he's learned from them.

Interestingly, JFK couldn't get through a Democrat primary today. Too conservative.

^This is the trifecta right here. Washington, Lincoln, and Reagan. Reagan really needs his own dollar bill. Or at least a coin. I like the idea of walking around with a wallet full of Reagans. 8)

The only good thing about Reagan having his own dollar is that we liberals would get to sit on his face.

Yeah Reagan was no tax and spend Democrat. He was a BORROW AND SPEND Republican. Adjusted for inflation Reagan pissed away FIVE TRILLION DOLLARS worth of deficits. His policies took us from the world's greatest creditor nation to the world's biggest debtor nation. He shifted the tax burden from the rich to the middle class setting up policies that would all but destroy that middle class.

But he did fix the economy that was hurting under Carter right? WRONG! It was CARTER's choice of Federal Reserve Chairman, Paul A Volcker, whose policies got the country on the right track economically. Just in time for Reagan to take the credit.

So then what did Reagan do? Reagan made a backroom deal with Iran to hold US hostages longer rather than negotiating with Carter until Reagan was in the White House. As part of the Iran Contra scandal, Reagan famously said, "A few months ago, I told the American people I did not trade arms for hostages. My heart and my best intentions still tell me that's true, but the facts and evidence tell me it is not."

We can only imagine how Republicans would have responded if Carter, Clinton, or Obama came out with a line like that. But, being the hypocrites they are, Reagan saying it never even phased them. And I REPEAT that the ILLEGAL arms trade that Reagan ADMITS to was made to prevent them from releasing the hostages under Carter. Yes, as a matter of fact, that is called TREASON!

So why do Republicans make such a big deal about a TRAITOR like Reagan? Because other than him and Eisenhower (who had a 91% top tax rate btw) they have to go all the way back to Lincoln to name a single Republican President that they aren't ashamed of. And Lincoln sent people with guns to shoot their ancestors.

Don't believe everything you hear on Faux News. The deficit is going down, but the Republicans morons in Congress either don't want to admit it or they are just to dumb to realize it. They continue to play it down so the inane, such as yourself, will go and repeat the lies. You need to get ahold of some real "news" sources and quit relying on Rush and Beck to tell you the truth.

The federal budget is already shrinking, and yet no one seems to be talking about it. This week congressional leaders are attempting to negotiate a budget compromise that would cut approximately $30 billion from the federal deficit. However, without doing anything the federal deficit has already decreased by nearly that amount. The “magic” behind the decreasing deficit can be largely be explained by economic growth.

Oh wow, you think sitting on a paper face is something someone could get excited about? Wow, okay!

Some could even use the Reagan dollars as toilet tissue! So now make some homophobic thing out of that!

Seldom, if ever watch Faux News, so you have struck out there

That's good- the deficit is going down, yet the debt is steadily climbing. You really need to stop drinking Obama's Kool Aid.[IMG]

I'm inane repeating lies. Pot-meet kettle.

Again, I must burst your bubble. Don't watch or listen to Beck, Rush, or any of the talking heads. You seem to make assumptions about things and people you know absolutely nothing about.

Daily KOS? Surely you jest. Good heavens, man, next you'll be quoting the DIM Underground.

You be a funny man. Do you do stand up?[IMG]
