Of course, that's one possibility, and the United States can pay for it with the federal subsidies to the Noe-Confederate States that they will be saving.

 

I am not sure what study you are using. However, a few years ago there was a study which showed how blue states were subsidizing red states. Most of the reason was because residents in red states tended to pay less federal income tax than residents in blue states. That was ironic, because the left or blue staters also believed that people that make more money should pay a higher percent of that income in federal income taxes. Apparently, they only believe that only someone else who is making more money should pay more income taxes.

 

That means without the blue states, red staters will have to pay higher taxes. Interesting.

 

They won't pay no taxes cuz they don't need no gubment picking their pocket!

No laws, cuz everyone is decent and law abiding. No elites or colleges filling people's heads with communist lies.

In reality, the states most fiscally-dependent on the federal government - Mississippi, Louisiana, Tennessee, South Dakota , Missouri, Montana, and Georgia - cannot afford to abscond.

And, given that no state is homogeneous in its residents' ideological allegiance, secession would merely set the precedent for that state's subsequent internal secessions. Secession triggers the progressive dissolution of the state.

 

Which a lot of people would have less of a problem with if they agreed more on what those taxes bought.

...which could happen if we payed less federal taxes and more local taxes.

...which could happen if states and even counties had more autonomy of self government.

...which is likely what secessionists want and would do.

It won't be "red' states vs. "Blue states" , it will be rural areas vs. urban areas... urban areas have no farms or oil wells.

 

You are starting to go off the rails..WE pay taxes, we still have state and local government and at least we can SEE the services they provide. We do tend to be decent and law abiding because an armed society is a polite society. Our universities teach how to rationalize, how to study the material, when presented with all the facts students can decide what are the lies; and our schools teach technical skills that pay very well. Socialism/communism is a lie.
