Good grief.. Thousands of Americans are born all over the world .. and they do celebrate Christmas in Iran just as they do in Saudi Arabia.. Your problem is ignorance.

    Christmas in Iran.

Yes, maybe hundreds of Children are born outside the US, to other than diplomatic/military families, but then many are subject to that culture and traditions. This has always been my problem with Obama, now showing more of this and no doubt Jarrett has fond memories (or been told) of a Nation that has changed a great deal, since she lived there...

You went a little too far....on Saudi Arabia....IMO.

Thank you for the correction, I was just Americanizing the Shah's name.

I'm still searching for a specialist in medicine. It's gotten tougher with Obamacare being forced upon us.

The hippies turned on, tuned in and dropped out. They really did drop out for awhile before getting a life, getting a job and becoming taxpayers and would later be known as yuppies. l

But the yippies, those of the countercultural movement who took to the streets to aid and comfort the enemy have always been confused with the hippies.

Now there were those young college students (hippies didn't go to college) who were used as pawns by the radical left, the splinter groups of CPUSA like the SDS that would become the "New Left" who would hijack and take control of the Democrat Party in the early 1970's and would eventually take control of the White House in 2009

    Excerpts:

    >" The early New Left generally viewed radicals and liberals as allies who differed from one another in terms of tactics but not in terms of ultimate objectives, and who could therefore work together..."<

    >" As the Sixties progressed, the New Left departed from classical Marxism's identification of the proletariat, or working class, as the revolutionary vanguard. Instead, as Tom Hayden put it, “changing society meant committing to the laborious, democratic process of organizing diverse social groups.” Chief among these groups were poor people, rural blacks, the homeless, the mentally ill and dysfunctional, and the chronically unemployed.

Viewing these groups as “victims of the system” who would help the New Left create a “new insurgency” to undermine the “establishment” axis of competitive individualism and hierarchy, the radicals believed that such lowly segments of society embodied an authentic “humanism” derived from their “historical suffering” and thus were “immune to the ravages of competitive society.” ..."<

    >" As U.S. involvement in the Vietnam War escalated in 1965, SDS membership grew exponentially and the New Left became increasingly radicalized with anti-American hatred and a growing tendency to pose conflicts in terms of “us” and “them” – “the movement” on one side, and “the system” or “the establishment” on the other..."<

    >" In late 1965, Tom Hayden and Staughton Lynd together traveled to Vietnam, hoping, as Hayden put it, to “bring back an image of the Vietnamese as human beings” that would counteract stereotypes of the “faceless Vietcong” presented by the American media. When the pair returned from their trip, they described the North Vietnamese Communists as “the gentlest people we had ever known.”..."<

    >" n 1969, SDS began splintering into factions, one of which, calling itself Weatherman, was elected to SDS leadership and proclaimed that the time had come to launch a race war on behalf of the Third World and against the United States. This new entity dissolved SDS and formed a terrorist cult in its place, which took the name Weather Underground..."<

Note: We already know of Obama's connection to terrorist Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn of the Weather Underground.

    >" By the early 1970s, the openly defiant and revolutionary New Left had spent its political capital and was a dying movement. But its adherents remained committed to the cause, altering their tactics so as to work within the system in a manner the New Left had previously chosen not to do. These latter-day leftists incorporated the tactics of the infamous Saul Alinsky, seeking to change society by first infiltrating its major institutions – the schools, the media, the churches, the entertainment industry, the labor unions, and the three branches of government – and then implementing policies from those positions of power.

Most notably, the ex-New Leftists found a home in the Democratic Party. By 1972, they had seized control of the party,.."<

NO they aren't.. you don't know the law.. if they are born to American parents anywhere overseas.. the birth is registered at the nearest US consulate and the baby gets a US Passport as a natural born US citizen. Some countries have the option of dual citizenship that must be acted on by the 21st birthday.. Few Americans do that either.

There is NO dual citizenship in Iran...................

Just to clarify, I should have used the word "subjected too", as American couples anyplace on the planet, as you say, if registered in the US by age 21, are American citizens. They however can be influenced by the customs, culture, while growing up. Born in 1956, she probably heard most of what she feels is true from others, but things really changed after the Shaw was overthrown.

she lived in a pretty America friendly country when she lived in Iran... when it was ruled by the SHAH (with two "h"s) And she undoubtedly lived in an American enclave while there.

When you take an infant to the US Consulate in Iran or anywhere else, the baby is "registered" as a US citizen.. What are you talking about? Iran has NO dual citizenship.. nor does Indonesia..

I was in and out of Iran many times in the late 1950s and early 1960s.. and we had many family friends (Americans) working there.. Do you think there was NO expat community?

The question should be, was there dual citizenship in Iran in 1956 when Valerie Jarrett was born ? What were Iran's birthright citizenship laws back in 1956 before the Islamic Revolution ? Every link that I have found on the internet that would answer that question has been scrubbed from the internet. Why ?

A buddy of mine father was stationed on an USAF base in England during 1951, When he was born he was delivered off base in a civilian hospital and had dual citizenship, an American citizen and a British subject. Which came into play in 1969, he had a way out of the draft during the Vietnam war. Also, he could not run for POTUS because he wasn't considered a natural born citizen. He chose U.S. citizenship and was drafted and served in the Nam.

His younger brother a year later in 1952 was born at the base hospital on the U.S. Air Force base in England. He didn't have dual citizenship and was considered under the law at the time as a natural born citizen just like John McCain who was born in the U.S. Canal Zone in Panama.

Iran has NEVER had dual citizenship..

Being delivered off base is not an issue for any American parents in any foreign country.

You are confused about the facts of that matter.

Kids who are born overseas were registered for the draft in the US.. I think that it was draft board "zero" in Washington DC... and he was considered a natural born US citizen and could run for president.

you are, it seems, incapable of either telling the truth or getting anything right. Dependent children of US servicemen born overseas are natural born citizens regardless of what laws might or might not be in effect in the country in which they are born. Like John McCain. Natural born. Born in Panama. Dad was a naval officer (and twice the man his son grew up to be, I might add!)

you are absolutely correct. And that was the situation when she left Iran with her parents at the age of five.

The draft board told my buddy that since he had dual citizenship, U.S. citizen and a British subject, he could move to the UK and apply for a British passport and wouldn't be classified as a draft dodger. He would no longer be an American citizen.

If you can provided a credible source on what Iran's laws were on dual citizenship and birthright citizenship were in 1956, please provide them. Any source I found was recently scrubbed with in the past six years. That's why I ask why ? I do know that Iran did revise their citizenship laws in early 1980's right after the Islamic Revolution.

It may be that your friend is either misinformed or lying... If he was born in England off base in 1951 to American parents he's a natural born US citizen.

Or, its possible that the numb nuts at the draft board were ignorant.

Iran has NEVER had dual citizenship.. Look it up yourself.

Thanks for the info, assumed as much, but still feel she, as does Obama, hold an undeserved respect toward the leaders in Iran , their motives and how terrorist should be handled.

Margot; From the few post I've read of your's on this forum or another, I have no doubt you were influenced by the Muslim faith. I remember on another forum years ago several... "All my Muslim friends" in Florida I assume, followed by anti American traditional speech.

we'll just have to agree to disagree. I think Obama and his team have done a pretty masterful job, all in all, in dealing with terrorism. OBL is dead, as are many many other AQ heavy hitters. He certainly has been more effective against terrorists than Bush ever was.

Did I say they weren't ? I'm going by the way the laws were INTERPENETRATED in 1970, not today.

It's like when Barack Obama was born in Hawaii in 1961, back then the law was interpenetrated as "Son follow the condition of his father" not his mother.
Years later the courts not the SCOTUS would change the interpenetration of the law.

I'm old enough to remember when there was "native born" and "natural born." Today some say there is no difference between the two, but there use to be.

so...your buddy was born in 1951 to a US serviceman stationed in England who had, it would seem, married a british woman during WWII, and then, was able to remain in England for six years after the end of WWII - still on active duty one would suppose - and the woman he married had never taken steps to assume the citizenship of her husband's country and never, one would seem, ever even spent any time in the US. So.... six years later, her "husband", the US serviceman - present for the birth? even in country? no one knows - doesn't take steps to notify his chain of command or the US embassy of the birth of his dependent son.... and the mother, claims him as a subject of the crown by virtue of her status? Can you see how the average person reading this convoluted pile of cow dung might begin to doubt the veracity of it, or, at least, your actual understanding of the true circumstances behind your "friend's" birth?

I am not anti-American at all.. I am anti-stupidity because I expect Americans to be better.

My only Muslim friend in Florida was a Palestinian female... Most of my Muslim friends are educated and live in Arabia.

You forget that I am a life long Christian from a long, long line of Christians.

Jarrett may be sympathetic towards the Iranian people, but she would NOT be sympathetic to the religious government of Iran .. particularly if her parents worked in Iran prior to 1962 when the Shah was in power.

Should add that the United States at the time went by Vattel's "law of Nations" in regards to birthright citizenship/dual citizenship "Son follows condition of his father" where as British Common Law does not. The Brits will claim anyone born on British territory as a British subject until that British subject reaches the age of 18 or 21, some where around that.

Children of American citizens born on UK territory are dealing with two laws, "Natural Law" and "Common Law."

Good example of "Natural Law" where "son follow condition of his father," is Mexico. Mexico claims that all children (anchor babies) of illegal alien Mexican parents who were born on U.S. soil as being Mexican citizens and that Mexico have jurisdiction control over these children and that these children hold their loyalty to Mexico, not the USA.

Have you ever wondered why Mexico has 52 Embassies and consulates in America ? Probably because 10% of Mexican citizens live in the USA.
