For all those who hate anything red, why accept a socialised military?

Shouldn't it just be sold off to the highest bidder, just like housing, education and health.

    No difference right?

The military is a Socialised system - you hate socialised medicine, yet love socialised military.

    Disconnect

Having been in the military I will say that it's the only way it can run IF the wars are left to the military leaders and not micromanaged by politicians. Now, having said that, I want NO other part of my life RAN by ANYTHING socialized!! Our "Education" system is one of the poorest in the world and ran by the Government, care to debate that issue??? Leave my health insurance alone, I don't want anything to do with your socialized medicine, I and my family. were through that in the Military so I do have some knowledge from which I speak. And, Friend, with few doctors (because we will lose about 40% if you people push this thing) how do you intend to service everyone without rationing healthcare???

Would you be ok with the idea of the military being funded only by 'voluntary' donations?

How is the military socialized when it's clearly ran by a top to bottom hierarchy?

First, the Military is the ONLY thing the Constitution gave Congress the authority to raise money for. So I would drop all other government agencies before touching our military. Second, it is only those that can NOT provide for themselves that want the rest of us to provide for them. Ever hear of being self reliant???

Are you purposely making a very bad strawman, or are you genuinely confused?

It's a nationalised industry, paid for by the tax payer, and run by the government.

So would you or your local community be self-reliant in the case of invasion - surely, you would want the assistance of the taxpayer in this scenario?

I don't hate the reds. Is why I don't hate the military.

Actually anyone who's ever been in the military tends to loathe anything promoted by Socialists and Marxists since a byproduct is invariably the taking away or restricting of freedoms. Nothing like having few freedoms (the military) to teach you to relish the constitutionally guaranteed freedoms of civilian life . . . even the freedom to fail.

No need to debate, your point is nonsensical and wrong. I WILL educate you though. Yes our education system is worse than many other countries, and our system is public. So far you are on track. However, we then need to look at the systems ahead of us. Every single one of those systems IS ALSO public!! So in other words, no need to debate, you need to carry your logic further along, so you don't say things like that anymore.

I stand in opposition to any institution, civil or military, whose existence is maintained via involuntary servitude (taxation) to the state.

The US military is, and has been for some time, a force of coercion and imperialism, and ought to be opposed on those grounds alone, and I say this as a veteran of the USMC.

Absolutely! That is the only military which can be truly counted upon to defend the people from legitimate threats.

Is there some reason communities cannot enter into mutually beneficial defense pacts with each other? Why must coercion and intimidation form the basis for an effective defense apparatus?

This is absolute nonsense. The military we have now can be 100% totally counted on to defend America from any legitimate threat.

If you believe the US military is and has been a force of coercion and imperialism then you should make your case to your elected reps in DC. And you want a military that is funded ONLY by voluntary donations? That is so divorced from reality as to be ridiculous.

Yeah exactly. The state run military is involuntary.

It's not about anything being sold to the highest bidder, that's just a preference most people tend to have - they want to get the most for what they've got in a transaction.

If we look at the military operations in Iraq, Halliburton etc.. isn't that more like a Private company making money out of the taxpayer?

Yea right! The only thing they can be counted on for is to do the bidding of crooks in Washington DC. The only defense force which can be truly counted on is the militia. Everything else is just a pretext for imperialism and fascism.

Sorry, guy, but your position is the one that is divorced from reality. You have the comfort of being in the majority opinion, but history hath shewn that majorities often want for wisdom. And don't forget, the US military depends entirely on VOLUNTEERS. A nation that will not voluntarily defend itself is a nation that does not deserve to exist!

False. The Constitution provides for the government to put money towards roads, the Post Office, embassies, and a myriad of other things.

And when people stop funding it due to the free rider problem?

POST roads, you mean. But who cases about the Constitution, anyway? It's just another failed statist experiment that is held together by coercion and intimidation. It ought to be discarded.

An unsubstantiated assumption disguised as a question, your speciality.

How many small communities or groups of them are able to operate integrated air defense networks, main battle tanks, or anti-ship missile launchers with only voluntary donations?

    1. Feel free to leave America and start a Seastead anytime you want.

    2. The free rider problem occurs anytime a service does not require payment and at the same time is required to provide that service to all people in an area. Eventually, no one will pay for it.

How would your militia-based defense stop your community from being carpet bombed with only voluntary donations?
