Not exactly. You can't argue against someone who is fully informed and knows all their facts.

That is because you are ignorant of what Japan's ignoring with contempt meant. And the US dropping a nuke only a few days of opening negotiations for surrender was indefensible when Japan no longer posed any kind of significant threat. It was really just a very simple case of give the military a new toy and they will go to any lengths to play with it.

Actually the meaning is very clear.

Negotiations for surrender did not open until after both A-bombs had already been dropped.

The ten thousand Kamikazes that were planing to target crowded troop transports when we invaded Kyushu were a pretty serious threat.

Resistance from a couple million Japanese soldiers dug into caves on the beaches was not a trivial problem either.

No. It was a very simple case of bombing military targets at the height of the most brutal war in human history.

All is nonsense since there was never any need to invade.

There would have been an invasion if Japan had kept refusing to surrender.

And when both A-bombs were dropped, Japan was still refusing to surrender.

My oldest brother was home on furlough after serving in France and was due to head to the Pacific. There are a lot of us who are very grateful for those bombs.
