Donald Trump definitively demonstrated over the weekend and early this week that he is off the rails. Despite his demonstrable mental instability and almost total lack of knowledge of international affairs, various polls show that more than 30 percent of American voters intend to cast their ballots for Donald Trump. How is this possible? His psychological unfitness for the job can no longer be a secret to anyone.

Don't those voters understand that if Donald Trump is elected, not only will he have no idea what to do, his oversized ego will convince him that he himself is doing exactly the right thing as he takes the most bizarre actions. He reminds me of the late Hugo Chavez in Venezuela, who also believed that he and he alone had the solution to everything.

Trump apologists insisted for months that once nominated, Trump would be guided by his more knowledgeable advisers. Trump exploded that myth during the past seven days. Trump listens to no one Those same apologists claimed that once elected, Trump would be surrounded by more knowledgeable advisers, who would steer his actions. Trump has demonstrated that he believes he knows everything better than everyone and that he isn't going to listen to anyone.

Given the stark evidence that Trump is unhinged, why would more than 1/3 of American voters nevertheless declare their intention to vote for him? Regardless of party affiliation or ideology, what is wrong with us as a people if so many of us are willing to vote for a known whack-job for president?

Because the alternative is Hilary who is a known quantity - she will definitely be a disaster. You can vote for certain disaster, or vote for what might be success. Every rational person will reject Hilary.

The answer is basic: Emotion. People are angry and fearful, and these affect the decision making process.

Many Republicans have cognitive dissonance or a moral dilemma. They know Trump is not a good choice but they don't want to vote for Hillary either. Many will be staying home. Some will vote 3rd party but it's a wasted vote.

Hillary lies ALOT! How do I know what she says she will do is not just another lie?

Hillary is more of the same ole corrupt crony capitalism politics. Trump wants to put a stop to their gravy train and make them work "for the people" instead of big banks and big business and that's what Washington elitist are afraid of.

If something isn't working, doing the same thing over and over again is insanity.

Another Democrat who can not think of ANY reason for anyone to vote FOR Hillary Clinton. Rather, just mouth the worthless Wall Street and mega rich global elites they see on TV and accept hook, line and sinker.

That is something you don't see on this forum. Anyone who is FOR Hillary Clinton. No one can name a GOOD reason to vote FOR her.

Hillary Clinton's truthfulness or lack thereof does not make Donald Trump sane.

    - - - Updated - - -

Trump's lack on sanity has nothing to do with his being mega rich. I did not write that. Also, with a bit of careful reading you would know that I'm not a Democrat.

I think the American people have to ask themselves would they rather have a psycho running this country or a known quantity? I think most people will take the latter.

This election is very unique, the majority of Americans dislike both major party candidates and do not want either to be their next president. For that you can thank our two major parties. You have one candidate who is view very negative by 60% of all Americans and another view negatively by 55% of all Americans. That is a whole lot of negativity.

So the choice sort of boils down too horrible vs. a bit less horrible for most Americans outside of the avid Clinton and Trump supporters. According to RCP averages, Clinton leads Trump today 43-37. So it is a matter of degree, the lesser of two evils choice between Clinton and Trump. I know for an avid supporter of either Clinton or Trump it is hard to realize the disdain out there for their candidate. Right now Clinton is view the lesser of the two evils, but far from a majority of Americans as her 43% shows.

Now if the Democrats had offered up a candidate that the public viewed as more honest and trustworthy than the untrusted Hillary Clinton, Trump may very well be down in the 20’s and that other candidate around 60% instead of 43%.

If you ever read some of my posts, I have said many times that if Trump wins it will be because the Democrats nominated Clinton and the reverse is true. If Clinton wins it will be because the Republicans nominated Trump. As hard as it is for a Trump or Clinton supporters to admit or even see, neither one is liked by the majority of Americans. By nominating Trump and Clinton, both major proved they live in their own little closed off world. Neither party was a bit interested in what the people wanted and wished, they didn’t want the two major parties to nominate whom they did. But our two major parties do what they always do, they ignored the American people and told them to stick it where the sun don’t shine.

There's a lot of evil people out there that want bad things to happen. White nationalists, racists, bigots, etc. They're no joke.

True. But Trump's flaws do not make Hilary honest, competent, or qualified.

Unfortunately its a choice based on relative merits not on absolute standards. Neither is a good choice by any absolute standard. But compared to Hilary, Trump is clearly the safer choice.

No one knows what trump will do. All we have are his campaign promises and they are worthless on both sides. Hillary has a lifetime of government service. At the very least we know she is a stable person who can work within the system. We do NOT know that about trump and have lots of evidence he can't.

Trump is not a psycho, that's propaganda.

If a simple known quantity is your standard, would you rather have a Hitler or Stalin running the country? They are known quantities.

Many people will reject Hilary because her quality is known - and her quality is exceptionally poor, she is the epitome of the corrupt system, and will be a disaster.

And despite her being everything you hate about the current system, despite her being completely supported by the "1%", despite her working her entire life to put in place the current corrupt system that enforces inequality and corruption, your party carried her on their shoulders through the primary and they hope into the White House.

Trump supporters do not have to explain themselves. Hilary supporters are the ones who should be explain themselves. You should be looking in the mirror and asking yourself why you support such a terrible person.

Its simple really. People are fed up with the establishment politics in DC. People are tired of special interests running our political system and Hillary Clinton, whether her supporters can't admit it, she is the epitome of the establishment.

This anti establishment sentiment isn't going to go away either. People don't trust the government anymore, and quite frankly, they have no reason to.

Trump was the only one listening and promising. If Repubs had a do over knowing what they know now one of the good old boys would be in place and Hilary's chances would be up in smoke. Trump could rise again, it's still a long way to the finish line. People want an alternative to the status quo and given an opportunity will forgive and move on to the polls. Trump needs a shining moment though

Hillary lies to the American people ALOT!

How do I know what Hillary says she will do is not just another lie?

It's really a common sense question? If "a friend" always lied to you would you trust them?

    True, Trump is an unknown.

True, Hilary has a lifetime of service (not a lifetime of government service, govt service is only recent). That's why she is clearly unqualified. Every aspect of her life is tainted with corruption and deceit, from her first job as a lawyer supporting the Watergate hearings up until today. From her dismissal from the Watergate committee, the Rose Law firm billing records, her cattle futures escapade, FBI Filegate, Travelgate, Whitewater, Bimbo Eruption Squad, the Clinton Foundation, Benghazi, Russian uranium, Bosnia sniper fire, and on and on her life is nothing but lies and corruption and abusing the public trust to enrich herself.

Hilary is a known quantity, just like Mafia boss Peter Gotti and drug cartel boss "el Chapo" are known quantities.

I agree, it's propaganda with Liberal media distortion. I was told that if you got to fight, act crazy, that will set them off kilter. Politicians are crazy, you got to be to live in that world.
