What is the point of you debating energy policies, foreign policies, domestic policies, etc, when you only have another two or so decades of being able to pretend you're in charge of the country anyway? What is the purpose of even arguing foreign policy? The Hispanic majority isn't going to care about what Russia does or what the Ukraine's borders are.

What's the point of arguing energy policy? What's the point of debating programs like Affirmative Action? What's the point about complaining about liberal biases in the media?

What is the point of any of this?

Even if you successfully implement successful domestic policies now, all you're doing is feathering the bed for your future Mexican masters.

Why even care who the next President is? In another 25 years you'll never see another President ever again who thinks even remotely like you anyway, and they'll be over turning everything you accomplish or are try to accomplish, rendering all of these issues and discussions utterly irrelevant. All your foreign policy positions are irrelevant. All your domestic desires are irrelevant. All your economic beliefs are irrelevant. Even if you carry them out now, they're on a ticking clock and set to expire very, very soon.

When I see threads arguing what course America should take, on this issue and on that issue, all I really see is one giant pointless conversation.

You assume all white people think the same. I am a middle aged heterosexual white man who is born, raised and lived his whole life in America-grew up in a small town-where the "Real Americans" live, played high school FOOTBALL, still love football, hope future generations of boys get gazillions more concussions playing it! Love BBQ and fatty foods, hate affirmative action ...and I am a far left leaning socialist.

Does it really matter? Sure, the thread pertains more to white `conservatives` but the consciousness of America is soon going to be Hispanic, who will have their own ideas on how to run things, rendering all American ideas irrelevant, especially `conservative` ones. I guess for the next twenty years they'll just indulge in political fantasies and pretend anything they say matters?

Why don't we just build a fake capitol building for them to play political house in? They can pass fake bills and vote on fake issues, and start fake invasions for a fake foreign policy. In forty years we'll look back and, since everything they do now is completely irrelevant, that will essentially be what they've done anyway.

This is a good point. Many of the issues that we face are going to seem trivial in the coming decades. I used to be really concerned with the US following Europe's lead and taking on a large amount of Muslim immigrants, but I realized that by the time they comprise a significant enough percentage of the population, our major US cities are going to either resemble Detroit or Tijuana, and we will have a lot more to worry about than the occassional Islamic terrorist attack.

Because no matter who is running the country decades from now, I have children and will no doubt have grandchildren at some point. So the future of the country is important to me. Eventually, we'll all be dead but some of us would like the country to go on and hopefully be a decent place to live.

You're a majority of the population now and the powers that be are already uninterested in what you want or think, and make every possible effort to make sure your voice is completely minimized. I wouldn't hold out any hope your children are going to fare any better. They'll have even less power than you do, which is none at all.

Because those people in the future are going to be Americans. There ethnic heritage means nothing compared to that. My family was Greek two generations ago, now they are German and Greek. My Wife is adopted so who knows what my children are ethnically. All I know is that I am and they are Americans. In forty years we may have more Hispanic people in the country then northern European. It means absolutely nothing, hopefully like my family all the people in this country will be mixed so much that no one can tell without a computer. Then the concept of racism will be something studied in history class as some bizarre abnormality in Americas past.

Which non Western country would best resemble this place?

    - - - Updated - - -

Why arent there countries the same as America or the West all around the world if the people make no difference?

I guess if race really mattered to me that much, I would probably be depressed.

Because it doesn't, I can rationally observe that a more Latino country isn't automatically a bad thing.

What really matters is class, not race. We have several poverty issues that aren't being addressed and will only get worse if we don't reform things like education.

That's what worries me, and although I would agree that our government is run by elites that don't care about the interests of the common man, I can at least hope to nudge people in a direction where they're asking the right questions about policies.

My care in such things is not dependent on whether I'm a racial majority member or not.

What matters to you is irrelevant. It's what matters to them, and to them, a proud people, race is very, very relevant.
    You're very `open minded`, though. Congratulations.

The Cold War is not a long time ago and America has been playing the leadership role for the "free world" to defend democracies from tyrannical regimes. What Washington decides still carries so much weight that the rest of world cannot ignore America's stance on various issues such as Crimea and one administration's bungled foreign policy does not make America suddenly irrelevant.

Nobody ever accused America's ruling class of being irrelevant. I just said you are.

In general, the more advanced a culture becomes, the more individualistic it is.

In cultures where education and wealth are less widespread, it's easier to rely on nationalism and race pride.

Over time, however, you'll see less and less of this sort of thing among Latinos.

In short, prosperity plus education = individualism and tolerance.

So, in 30 years or so, when America is a minority-majority country, race isn't going to matter that much.

When no single group is the majority, then the logical focus is on class.

Japan, Europe and Russia say otherwise. You're basically just applying American propaganda to some universal law about `individuality` that doesn't exist. You aren't going to change Latino culture. It isn't wealth or education that makes people "more individualistic" - it's simply a complete lack of pride. The Latinos aren't going to abandon their heritage or customs or racial pride because you say so, and you don't have a magic wand to change them. All you're doing is rambling about what you wish the world was, for whatever reason.

It doesn't matter, though, because like I said: Your world view is irrelevant.

    They'll decide.

If (when) they want to teach in public schools that white Imperialists stole their land, and the righteous Latinos eventually won it back and conquered the entire United States, that's what they'll teach, and they won't be coming for your input on "individuality" before doing so.

Enjoy your fantasy of relevance while it lasts for another twenty years,

    Marx would be proud

Japan is advanced, its people intelligent and well off, yet they believe in Japan for Japanese people, culture and tradition. Any examples of this utopia anywhere in the world? I dont see any races believing they dont exist, in fact in America/ the West they fully understand it and form strong lobby groups to benefit their type of people. It only racist if one race does it.

I wouldn't even bank on the minority-majority keeping the same national flag. What do Latino's care about America's war for independence against the British Crown? They'll have a flag to celebrate their victory against white imperialist America.

Expect a currency change as well. I don't know many Latino nationalists that care about George Washington or Benjamin Franklin and don't see why they would want them on their currency.

I wonder if they'll tear down Mount Rushmore before the 22nd century. Why would they want a national monument dedicated to racist white slave owners and imperialists?

    Keep singing your little song.

Russia is, for its standard of living, more educated than many other nations. So, you're correct that they certainly have a lot of nationalism and cultural pride. They also have a lot of state propaganda, however. Media freedom is very poor there.

Japan is a better counterargument, and I have to concede that my statements apply better to Western culture than Eastern cultures.

As far as Europe goes, you could argue that the Nordic countries have a significant amount of collectivism despite being very wealthy and educated. However, they're still much more individualistic than the developing world.

So, it's all a matter of frame of reference. Latino cultures are still Western, even if they differ somewhat from America and Europe. Because of that, they tend to exhibit the same patterns as us with regard to wealth and education.

Recognizing class as a significant factor in societal conflict isn't solely connected to Marxism. He did correctly recognize its significance, but he was not the first to notice it. He simply is the best known for it.

Japan, again, is an Eastern culture. They are much more collectivist than the West in a lot of respects. However, even their cultural evolution over the last 2 centuries has favored more individualism than before.

So basically you just pulled what you said about "individualism" out of thin air and it has no basis in reality, and certainly won't apply to the Hispanic majority on the verge of seizing complete political power in the United States of America.

Thank you for sharing your fable with us. It's all very interesting.

If you compare Norway to just about any developing nation, you're going to find that Norway is more individualistic.

If you compare most Western citizens with higher education to most Western citizens without it, you'll find the former tend to be less nationalistic and more individualistic (regardless of race).

There's a certain irony to your OP in that your concern is with the manipulative tactics of the powers that be, and yet, nationalism is probably the easiest way to manipulate the masses.

It's why Putin uses it so much.

This coming from someone who is on the verge of being conquered by an Mexican invasion armed with the word "racist" and is utterly defenseless against it, and even supports it, because the powers that be instructed you there is no such thing as race and that ethnicity does not matter. You're more worried about the Ukrainian border than you are your own because that is your instructions from your "free media."

    Oh, the irony.

I didn't say our media was squeaky clean either. We rank somewhat poorly on media freedom as well.

And yes, our powers that be tend to manipulate the masses in favor of corporate interests.

I personally don't really care about Crimea. If the majority of Crimeans apparently want to be Russian, I don't have any interest in stopping them.

My lack of interest in race has nothing to do with white guilt. I know a lot of people fall prey to that. I think Affirmative Action is slowly growing rather useless.

However, I also don't see any reason to be preoccupied with race, since each individual is different. There are bastards in every race, just like there are nice people as well.

It's not just a matter of being "open-minded". It's about being logical.
