Why does Russia, population 146 million, have fewer coronavirus cases than Luxembourg?

    The Soviet Union lasted 74 years.

    Red China is in its 71st year.

    Maybe not. Population density. Russia is a vast country with a few big cities. Those cities are breeding grounds for the virus. Here in Georgia, over half of all cases are in and around the Atlanta metro area. The further you get from Atlanta, the big city where people live on top of each other, the fewer cases and fewer deaths. Then there is also public transportation, a subway or bus full of people will pass the virus on more easily than someone driving alone in their car. Atlanta also has the busiest airport in the states. Another hotbed where the the virus can be spread easily.

    It probably all boils down to contact.
